Reading on the NOW TV community forum, the 2nd gen Black streaming boxes have been converted to 50Hz. This was done during the same update to disable the developer mode to stop piracy on the devices.

Seriously? Were they showing Freeview 50Hz stuff at 60Hz before this?!

No that's the Smart Box. I meant the 2nd gen NOW TV Box which has been updated to render at 50Hz.

Ah - did the white first gen boxes get an upgrade? And are Now TV doing any 50p stuff, or is it all 25p still? (Is iPlayer 50p on them?)

White box is still 60Hz. Still 25p sadly.

They've updated their streaming quality page which shows that most devices now stream most content in 720p now. I've tried this with the Now TV Black Box and Sky Cinema Disney is 720p for live content.

Apparently the white box has also been updated to 50Hz.

Some suggestions in the Irish media that Sky will finally launch Now TV in the Republic of Ireland (after what seems like decades after the rest of the known universe, or at least Sky's other markets!) next Wednesday.

A bit of an open secret as Sky's Irish staff have been testing the service for months.

Irish website now live. Pricing seems to be steeper than the U.K. There's also no Kids Pass or Smart Box.

Now TV Box - €25
Entertainment Pass (same as UK without ITV Encore) - €15 pm
Sky Cinema Pass - €15pm
Sky Sports - Day Pass €10,Week Pass €15, Monthly Pass €50pm

The UKTV Play app will be coming to NOW TV boxes after a deal between UKTV and Sky for VOD content.

How stable does the Box Office app tend to be on Now TV. Contemplating it for tonight but think quite a few people had problems last month.

All I know is that the service is provided by a third party provider as NOW TV fob off customers with this excuse.

Quite annoying you have to sign up separately (and not through the box) to it rather than just pay through your account.

Well turns out it would have been worth the purchase tonight - second time in a month Sky Box Office was probably worth the price and the main event not over in Round 1!
