It's all looking really good, apart from the black to me. The opening to the late bulletin had a really nice side-on shot with what seemed to be a slight blur at the top, making the black seem less obvious, plus obviously it was a night shot. But at 6pm the double header shot just looked like part of the background was missing. Obviously done their best with what they can but I'm really surprised why the regions couldn't have had ITV News blue 'wallpaper' to keep the theme going. It's a niggle though because the rest of the set looks great.
Not sure about the VO at 6pm, think I preferred it over the ident (or drop the ident music instead maybe?)
Not sure if this has previously been mentioned but there is currently an opt out on BBC 1 South East
They used Chatham Dockyard again, which was used for the election debate earlier this year.
However it did seem poorly prepped this time round, Polly Evans was unusually poor as a moderator this time round and focused too much on immigration (a constant BBC SE obsession) instead of the real impact of people in Kent and the recent French ferry workers strike which has led Operation Stack to be in use for as long as it has this summer.
Quentin Smith, BBC SE's editor has taken SET too tabloid in the last year or so personally.

He has been there far too long now. Time for a change and a refresh in editorial time. He should go.
SET already has a USP of being the only real dedicated regional news bulletin for the region, yet for some reason, he's decided to turn into a hybrid of the Mail/Express with the constant immigration stories, sending reporters to Calais since before the election and now commissioning a debate in the post 10.35pm slot in August when you're not going to get senior figures when they're on holiday!
