Copter Sharing?
WXYZ 7 and WDIV 4 - DETROIT are in live coverage right now (2-12-14 / 4:43 pm) of a major power cut across the city of Detroit.

For the benefit of viewers with battery powered tellies Very Happy

Well, the power outage affected primarily public buildings, such as government offices, schools, and hospitals (LINK), so most residential viewers wouldn't have been affected.

KSWB - 5 San Diego. (11.12.14) 5:04pm Live coverage of hostage drama on Expressway in San Diego. Amber Alert Suspect that kidnapped some kids. Compelling footage of child running away from vehicle.

Horrible ending. KSWB had this on delay. They cut away. The father tried to throw the child over or something. They didnt show what happened. They said shots were fired. Children safe. Father is alive.

Hey mouseboy Smile

Watched all 3 today. Loving KTLA spunking their adbreaks in the past 10 minutes since they went so long without one.

I know what the heck. Ive seen other people commenting on twitter about them taking advert breaks. Strange. Though this happens so often, I still marvel how these stations can usually seemlessly vamp without a script for extended periods. But that comes with experience and knowing the city they cover. I also have up KABC Live stream. Their raw stream of course doesnt have any breaks. Something was originally wrong with the picture. As if something was obscuring the cam. They have cleared it or are using a different chopper. I think a different chopper because the shot completely changed.

- KTTV FOX 11 is live on the ground just behind the police and broacasting live pics. KTLA and KTTV both report that people are pulling over to watch. Crazy!

WSVN 7 Miami is doing live coverage of a possible shooting of 4 people at Lil Wayne's Miami Mansion. Interestingly 7 SkyForce pilot Ralph Rayburn just made a on-air statement about the choppers location and that they are not showing any movement of law enforcement on live tv. They have went to taped footage a few times to avoid any law enforcement appearing outside around the house. But they are consistently stick with the live shot from SkyForce. . Too me is seems like the Miami Beach Police told SkyForce to back off and it was a polite way of saying no chance.

Maybe they are self-editing: If it looks like something is happening, go to a VT and if not then cut back to chopper 7?

Usually media is very good at complying with stuff like that, LA stations certainly.

Hah, what the hell? When most broadcasters are sharing copters for cost-saving purposes, what's the point of that? How they affording it?
MO

Dont know how they are affording it. I totally get the purpose, because the LA DMA is huge. But the hype.....Ehhh. A bit silly. Cant see how NBC is swinging this. But they are making a greater affiliate investment. But something tells me there is a bit off hype behind the ad. Are both choppers exclusively the use of KNBC? Do they a both sport KNBC branding? Is KNBC playing it a bit loose with this ad. Is one of the choppers already in use as a traffic chopper by other radio stations and would normally be up? Who knows. But i do get the idea of two choppers. Their DMA is nuts. Mountains, canyons, deserts...everything...
