No because some people like to chat about news choppers and how they are being used. If you a live link to share, im sure those that are interest would watch how they are used. DVBCornwall posted comment about the pics from EuroSport and Tour Norway. If News Choppers dont interest you Im sure something on these boards will. Have a good day.

Now while this is not necessarily Helicopter news coverage, this is coverage of a station's helicopter pilot racing said helicopter.
The website The Lost Ogle reported that Jim Gardner, helicopter pilot for the CBS Oklahoma City station KWTV 9, was suspended for racing the aforementioned chopper against a microjet usually seen in local air shows across the country. The station first learned of said incident following Gardner posting a photo of the helicopter "Sky News 9" and the microjet and video surfacing of the race. Here is the facebook post:

KWTV told TVSpy.com that the station does not comment on personnel matters.

During recent flooding in Slovenia, areal shots were provided by an outside company using drones; the company then made available the footage to the country's broadcasters.

Here's an example of the drone footage:

Some nice - from a technical/news viewpoint, if not an aesthetic one - drone footage just now on the News Channel to show views of a mile-long stretch of fly-tipped rubbish in Essex.

WXYZ 7 and WDIV 4 - DETROIT are in live coverage right now (2-12-14 / 4:43 pm) of a major power cut across the city of Detroit.

Interestingly they are both swapping live chopper pics. Both stations refer to chopper by its own branding (Chopper7 or Chopper4). This is a prime example of why this shouldn't be done. Though its understandable for economic reasons. They are accomplishing this by flipping back and forth between the stations which are broadcasting the live shot. But the chopper is basically over the same area and the shots are nearly identical.

Side note. These events are a true test of a news team. Thankfully its not (so far) a life or death situation, but in these events it shows how a local station can mobilize its teams and resources and sources to get info on air quickly and accurately. its fascinating when you compare the coverage between the stations. As this power system that failed in Downtown Detroit is owned by the city, expect the stations and newspapers to hold the City Governments' feet to the fire, as they rightly should.

Sidebar- I love how WXYZ are using the live chopper shots as a transitions between the reporter live stand-up shots. Thats subtle technique that i like.

Also WDIV has a livestream of live video from one if its newsvans streams. Watch as it drives around live in Detroit
