ITV's six new idents

Stupid decision to split the ITV presentation/programming threads as now the presentation thread is on Page 3 on the forum. I don't like this decision by the mods. It's only a good idea when relaunches happen.

Breaking up established threads and causing confusion and duplication on the board. Dubious.

Had to dig it out while the now basically lifeless programming thread floats around on Page 1. Anyway............

Anyone think we'll see some new idents in September? I should think we will with The X Factor, Stepping Out, new dramas and so on launching.

I'd say right to split the threads. As for the idents - very much the new season on ITV next week with a load of new programming (compared to virtually no new series on BBC1) - but with seasonal idents it's a bit tricky to time, especially going from summer to autumn. Saturday is the obvious time to do them, but I think people like to cling on to summer as long as they can so holding them back a few weeks wouldn't be the worst idea in the world.

Probably not. It's probably just a camera shot from a different position.

Good to see it picking up awards - it looked a bit risky at first (as most decent branding does) but it has worked really well across all uses and ITV looks much stronger as a result. How well it will age remains to be seen, though if history is anything to go by as long as it can survive six years or so it'll have done it's job.

Question has to be could ITV get away bring back some of the older idents next season? while also having a few new ones?

I was under the impression that the idents where on rotation, and that the Spring set would return in well Spring, they can't justify spending money on a whole new set of idents just to be used for a couple of months.

I think they could. Maybe if they filmed every ident they do now from different angles like the pugwash one in the picture in the link. Also the way that itv2 has done with the dog walker. I think they could reuse them.

A new CA with personality

Guess we are not going to start seeing the new Autumn idents.
