The fact is that these remote controlled cameras will, undeniably, be cheaper to use - they require the director or whoever it is in control, along with Mozart, to cue them, and along with much better flexibility than a remote camera at TVC, they do the job perfectly fine most of the time. I know there are issues with these cameras, but I think the thing you have to consider is that a cameraman is going to be more expensive, and aren't necessary, especially when these are kinks which look like they can be worked out.
Is it really expensive to have one or two camera operators on the BBC nowadays?

More problems earlier on tonight during the sport.
You did, speaking to Declan Curry on twitter he said that it was his bosses idea to have these on the captions. It would seem that Victoria Fritz who presented today's Your Money could be his boss.

Did I really see a 'Your Money' presenter strap with 'hello Mum!' on it?

I wonder if we'll see...
DECLAN CURRY
Hello TV Forumers!
One day? Wishful thinking, although would make a few on here chuckle.
Well shes an improvement on Declan's ugly mug!

In a word. Yes.
It would increase the daytime technical gallery staffing (for non-BBC One bulletins) from 3 to 4/5 people. That's a major cost increase. Even BBC One bulletins just get a single lighting/vision/remote camera person - but even adding a single extra job to the gallery would be a significant cost.
A major reason for putting in Mosart and Furio cameras must have been to reduce the staffing to at least pre-News Channel levels (3 during the day, 2 overnight) Remember the BBC has to make 20% cost savings at the moment. Increasing staff levels doesn't really help with that...
