It's also rather sad that the ITN of Alastair's time is no longer the same ITN of today.
How so?
That was more a criticism of
ITV
rather than ITN, who we all know are still capable of producing quality news just as they have done for nearly 60 years.
ITN has always had that power struggle with ITV, but ITV has the upper hand these days and that is what I was referring to. Put simply - if ITV wants to move the news, ITN has to oblige or risk the threat of losing their most lucrative contract.
I do apologise for the off topic-ness..and I have just realised I haven't said anything.
Rest in Peace Alistair Burnet, never ever saw a full bulliten of his but have saw clips of YT and ITV News and he has something that nobody else has..but it cannot be described.
But then they always put some sh*t filler between the two Corrie episodes, very rarely is it something good! Even putting it as a double episode, just call it a special and leave the news alone!
Well they couldn't have dropped this week's filler Britain's Secret Treasure (presented by ex-newscaster Michael Buerk) as it's running as a daily series.
Yes but that is what I'm saying, the filler is never anything good, it could even be a rota of short run drama's or something (like heartbeat, the royal, wild at heart)
Alastair Stewart is hosting the News at Ten (Thirty) tonight, that will be interesting as he's also done the voiceover for the obituary report and used to present the News at Ten with Sir Alastair.

Paul Davies did the obituary report on the News at 6:30.

I would imagine that will be the same on that was on the 6.30. Although Alastair S was obviously moved by this as his voice was starting to tremble after the tribute.
Here is the video for those who missed the tribute at the end of tonight's News at Ten (Thirty).

I think after the news of Sir Alastairs death, they should have some some last minute Scheule changes, and split Superstar (Which is an absolute flop) stop it at Ten, go to News at Ten, and then put superstar back on at 10:30 for the final half hour then the local news can remain at the planned 11:00pm slot then back to the nighttime Schedule.
EDIT: Great tribute that was very fitting.
