Fascinating clip uploaded recently involving a Westcountry report on the rebranding of both Westcountry TV and Central as Carlton, as well as the 'Westcountry' flag being taken down at the end.

Strange format though - it appears to be an 'Update' bulletin, but I can't fathom why they need to have the transcript scrolling below the video. Surely Teletext 888 and on-screen astons can suffice?


It's most likely taken from their Sunday "news review" programme (a staple in other regions at the time), with the scrolling text mainly for the benefit of viewers with hearing difficulties. Perhaps (and someone correct me if I'm inaccurate) this was in the days when Westcountry's news service didn't provide teletext/digital subtitles; not all ITV regional news service offered the facility as late as then.

I would send a message but I don't know if there contact link is fixed, there is a few minor errors in the page, I wish TV ark update their pages about some details,

* The 1989 The generic ITV ident used RARELY by Scottish in 1989 it was dumped by Nov/Dec and was hardly seen anyway
* 1990 look actually come along in early 1989.
* Scottish Night Time 1990s IE Black cat used used from Oct 1991 - Dec 1992.
* Scottish Television Ident 1999 The final incarnation of the thistle ident, seen on screens from November 4, 1996 to 2000, Saying that the Dark Purple come in to use 1st jan 1993 - 3 Nov 1996.

It seems to be working now; I sent to to someone called James who deals with Scotland. I hope this stop most other people getting confused!

What a superbly faithfully done advert for Pizza Hut (just added to TV Ark) that is!

The real 'Paint' ident (sans BBC logo of course), with a spoof of 'Blade', and another spoof 'Powder'! Great advert for any TV pres fan.

Who would have given them the rights to do that? Lambie Nairn? It seems strange that the BBC would allow a recognisable BBC brand to be used by a commercial company in such a way.

I think it's just very similar... it's got the same bridge but the rest is different.
