They're getting paid for carriage on DSat and DCab, that's the difference.

Giving away the new WS content on DTT seems a step too far. Watching the 4:3 version was painful when trying to concentrate on the Video section. As I saw earlier on WS the Video is far more prominent now and can be independently viewed without difficulty, the graphics now easily being ignored.

It's a much more valuable product now simply because of that aspect alone.

Further edit .... The Video window is complete too within the Graphic Frame so full frame video can be shown now without cropping down (as was the case with the 4:3 version).

I miss SSN, if there was nothing on ITV 3, E4, More 4 or Dave then SSN was a great alternative.

Really p*ssed off with Sky, although thankfully my local shows Sky Sports 1-4 & News anyway so that's a nice alternative, plus seeing as my pub is not part of a chain (Whetherspoons, Yates, etc.) then I don't mind going down often Smile

I just hope it hits Mr Murdoch where it hurts. Sky Sports News isn't enough at all to entice many into signing up with Sky, and removing a 24/7 promo loop from Freeview is surely going to reduce the number of new customers too.

Mr Murdoch only owns about 11% of BSkyB through his indirect stake in News Corp so he won't be hurt much if at all. He'll be hurt more by BSkyB holding out for £8 a share, rather than NewsCorp's £7 offer.

As for new customers I'm sure with all the other recent and future content improvements (ITV2-4HD, Five HD, Living HD, the two UKTV HD channels, the HBO deal) SSN will help Sky's growth.

To those who've been struggling to read graphics on Sky Sports News HD - apologies. Not really my area but I'm told they are working on it.

The new Soccer Saturday graphics at the bottom now looks far to spaced out, the gap between GOAL, the teams and then who scored it is massive.

Also, the advert box in the bottom right also seems to be just repeating what is appearing above it, just with a bigger font!

Finally, have they always had the logos of the different leagues on screen - at the moment we have the
Npower League 1, Clydesdale Bank Premier League and Barclay premier league logos on screen.

There also seems to be far to many things happening on screen at once, can't remember if it was like this before and it just went unnoticed but in that advert box on the bottom right there seems to be three moving things alone - a sparkle effect around the edge, the small video playing and the animation between the HD and SD channel. There is only so much my eyes can take in one go and I think they are reaching their limit!

.....They're using the sponsor logos for the leagues now, which is grand for the English leagues, but for the Scottish ones (particularly the SFL ones) you can only barely make out what it says (eg. "Iron Bru Dvision One" looks really small). Have they stopped mentioning the other leagues? Haven't seen the League of Wales, Irish League, or League of Ireland tables - never mind the continental leagues - on the sidebar yet

The graphics when they're on in-vision on location or when they're on Le Tiss/Merse/Thomo/Charlie covering a game look better on the left, it fills that gap that were created with the switch to 16:9, but all in all on SD it didn't look too bad.

I had to laugh when Jeff's mic failed at about 4.30 or so, he was speaking silence for a couple of links and then the panel had to carry on without Jeff, with them all handing over to each other, it felt awkward, but it was funny watching it.

Have just received an Facebook invite to complain about the removal of Soccer Saturday from Sky Sports 1 as it has resulted in BFBS is no longer able to show it to troops abroad.

Wonder if this will have any impact.

Completely and gloriously missing the point.

What I find even funnier is that the Guardian commissions an article complaining about Sky Sports News for the sake of it, and then today runs a text service, presumably written by the office junior, copying their content all day

If viewers of BFBS press the red button, they would launch a missile.

Interesting that they overlay the Soccer Saturday logo on top of the usual Sky Sports News logo in the top right - it's slightly misaligned at the moment.
