Now young Jeremy, comments are once again flying right over your head.

Its good that Central and Westcountry have got their regional names back, but its a shame about HTV News losing their name, I suppose we will get used to ITV Wales News (eventually!)

The news is still the copyright of 'Carlton Television', it still says 'Carlton' on the building (I did go to check since it's only a few miles up the road), it's certainly not totally back yet. But it does look like that's what's happening.

Sadly, I don't think we'll ever get 'Westcountry' and 'Central' back, we'll have to settle for 'ITV1 Westcountry' and 'ITV1 Central'.

Do they still have these big satellite dishes with the big "W"'s on them, or were they repainted for Carlton?

All repainted. Even the roadsigns which once carried pointers to 'Westcountry TV' were changed to read 'Carlton TV'. They did such a complete job at rebranding only 4 years ago that it will probably take years (or never) before they change it back. And we'll never get 'Westcountry Television' back again, in all likelihood if the Carlton branding goes, it will be replaced with a giant 'ITV1' logo with 'WESTCOUNTRY' underneath it - the big blue W is almost certainly gone forever.

I must say though, that as much as I wasn't for the name change, I do think Westcountry's building looks much nicer in it's red and orange Carlton colours than it ever did in the stark grey and blue Westcountry branding which used to be there.

Here are a couple of pictures that I took at the beginning of December:

You can definally tell that the merger in reality is Granada taking over Carlton and their ideas of presentation coming through. I wonder if Central etc will go back to using celebrity regional idents?

I hope not, the new idents are quite good.

Just two things:

As we know the brand name Carlton is disappearing and most things will become ITV (whatever), but what parts of the company are keeping the Carlton name? As I know Carlton Screen Advertising is staying, but I know something else with the Carlton name is being kept?

From Monday ITVplc will have formed, but what will happen to endcaps, will they all become an ITV Production or will the Granada endcaps have ITV at the botttom and not Granada. As it will be very odd shortly when programmes like Countdown could be:

An ITV Production for Channel Four.

Though this might not happen, but does anyone know?

(Forgive me if it has been mentioned already)

I'm almost certain we won't see that thing on our screens come Monday. There's not even a ITV1 logo over it!

So will this see the scrapping of the celebrity idents and the national continuity from London/Leeds/wherever?

Hopefully they'll get some better Christmas idents!

At a guess, anything that doesn't involve the Carlton name on air will probably remain, so things like as you say Carlton Screen Advertising, Carlton Studios, Carlton Media and so on and so forth.

I don't think anything's going to change in that department, or at least not in the short term. Countdown will probably retain its "A Yorkshire production for Channel 4" endcap as well.

It's a shame that 'Carlton Screen Advertising' is staying - it would be good promotion in the cinemas if it came up with the ITV logo before the adverts.

A lot of the Calton sites redirect to www2.##

It looks like the new look sites are being created as these ones appear to be missing something (probably a background).
