One suggestion...the TVLF Gallery needs to have a meaningful comment to allow a rating, doesn't need to be leaning positive or negative, or even constructive, just clear that the rater has viewed the mock.

Not sure how I'll be able to set that up, but on the new site I have set it so that all posts must consist of a minimum of 25 characters to encourage better conversation.

OK.

Pre-registration has now closed, and everyone who filled in the form has been added to the new forum.

Please don't message me asking to be added to the pre-registered list as I now need to concentrate on putting the finishing touches to the new site. Smile

I like Megathreads, and if there was a generic thread each for BBC ONE, BBC TWO, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, Sky, UKTV etc. it would help not clog up the forum with new threads for minor things. Only major things like rebrands or programme specific things etc. should warrant their own thread. Just my opinion. Smile

Why not go even further and have just a megathread for the entire BBC?

The issue there is who are you or I to decide what constitutes a minor discussion point. What is trivial to some is a key change to others.

The approach adopted here since last summer is a fine compromise. Encourage new threads to be created for new developments, which then naturally fall down the forum as discussion dries up.

If the topic is about something so trivial no-one replies, no harm done and it didn't bulk up/derail an unnecessarily long thread.

People briefly checking into the forum should not have to deep dive into tens of threads so large they require indexes and footnotes.

Pardon me but if you think new threads "clog up" forums you have a funny definition of what a web forum is.

So they'll be an overlap between this one closing and TVLF opening?

Yes, there will be an overlap. I have informed Asa of my intentions, and he's absolutely fine with it.

I think people have taken what I have said VERY literally, which is likely an error in my part for not explaining it clearly. Of course there should be more than just a main thread for each channel, it would be stupid if there wasn't. But I think having a new thread for some incredibly trivial things that really aren't significant enough to warrant a new thread could just go into a normal "catch all" thread for the channel it is related to. It would save the need to have to merge posts into an already exiting thread. That was the (unpopular) point I was trying to make but I think Jonny has explained what it should be like perfectly and much more articulately than I did!
