Nailed it.

I will agree though that one problem with a live virtual audience was there was a noticeable echo due to them watching on TV. Probably something that wouldn't have been spotted in rehearsal due to people not being able to watch them on TV as well as their laptops/ devices. Not sure how easy this will be for them to fix for future weeks.
Considering this is ITV's biggest production of the week, and the amount of money/budget they spend on it you would've thought the awful sound quality would have been something they would have picked up on. Like I said, this echoey, distorted, delayed, terrible sound levels belong on That's TV....not prime time ITV
It is our intention that the Finalists will be sent specialist electronic equipment by us in order to allow their live
video feed for the Game to be as a stable as possible to fit the broadcast requirements of the Programme
but to the extent this equipment cannot be provided, we reserve the right to revert to use the Finalist’s preexisting computer equipment with suggested software and/or revert to a telephone connection.

Wonder if they send certain members of the virtual audience who are potentially going to form part of a segment in the show a specific model of webcam or similar...
Would they send them a LiveU setup? Not sure how expensive to that works out at.

. Watching with the wife overall we enjoyed tonight's show.
That's putting it mildly! The majority of the people watching Takeaway aren't going to picking every aspect of the show, they want something that can entertain them.
Yes, but this is a forum this is what forums are for. Also I suspect there would be more people watching in the first place if the current (perceived) problems with the format were ironed out.
I always don’t really think the end of the show show really works coming out of the ad break, it was no momentum to build on.
Of course, I do appreciate they’ve put on a good show considering the pandemic, but I think that shows the issue.
Does anyone feel that maybe if the show had have been reduced to a one hour format, would it have worked any better? The sound of the virtual audience for me was really the only niggle the show had, all the rest of it I thought worked reasonably well.

Never...ever...ever in a million years will ITV reduce the show to an hour. They want more ad breaks around SNT not less.
Quantity of ads (around SNT) over quality of programme wins every time when it comes to ITV.
There really are some ignorant people whom would moan at anything watching this out there . Considering the current restrictions and restraints on a show like this it worked very well and fitted the 90 minutes perfectly - the audience worked well for what it was the first time a virtual audience has been used for longer than 30 minutes and all of the usual stuff was also included. In my view the show couldn’t have gone much better. Also the stuff on the itv hub, stv player is also worth looking at as well
I'm surprised they don't spin off Get Out Of My Ear 'uncut' into a 30 minute schedule filler looking at the extra content they had to cut on the ITV Player

Except for the two times they reduced it to an hour last year.
I think actually SNT is one show where if Ant and Dec ask them to jump ITV ask how high, and agree cutting down to 60 or 75 minutes may have been wise for this series and I'd be surprised if it wasn't at least considered, even if ultimately ruled out.
To be honest they probably didn't consider the virtual audience a problem considering Ant and Dec have been phoning it in for years.

The contestant tonight had a headphone already plugged in to her ear when she was 'selected'.
Just compare the opening of tonight’s show with this one from 2013. Or any show from last year for a fairer comparison.
Nowadays you don’t get the opening topical monologue (or should that be stereologue) which is basically what Ant & Dec are best at. The guest announcer is overused in that part of the show. They’ve basically replaced a lot of the laughs for just giving things away for the sake of giving things away, whereas before they used to do it in a much more creative way. The music performances at the beginning also don’t help.
WOW! Ant and Dec were ripping off Morecambe and Wise even back then!! The opening bit with the substitute Ant was a complete copy from Morecambe and Wise, when Ernie got a new Eric.
