French TV

I suspect TV5MONDE's weather forecasts are produced at RTBF in Brussels using their virtual set. Two of the forecasters already work on RTBF's weather bulletins, another is from RTL-TVi and another is also Belgian.

I became curious over Christmas when I saw forecaster Daniela Prepeliuc do a forecast on La Une, then later on TV5MONDE in another outfit, so I don't think the forecaster would just go to Paris to record a single forecast for TV5MONDE and then do four forecasts for La Une.

I'll kind of miss the quirky CGI ones in a way!

I wonder if they've done any specific Belgian versions of these for the Belgian advert opt-outs. There was of the CGI ones, with a little Belgian flag. Not sure if they ever did that for the Swiss version though actually.



I actually find the new version a bit more distracting, but it might just take a bit of getting used to. I've noticed when they're promoing something (e.g. Demain 21H05), that promo now completely takes the place of the DOG for a short time.

Also what do you think of the new idents for France 5?
Cos I feel like they're being overshadowed by TF1's rebrand.

Not seen the France 5 ones yet, but the M6 rebrand that apparently happened in September had completely passed me by until about a month ago.

I quite like their new look - it's very clean and smart. One thing I've noticed is they seem to taken some elements I've only seen before on German/Spanish TV with short advert breaks with bumpers that tell you how long it'll be. I noticed during Scènes de Ménages the other day that they take one very quick break during the programme now with a 'back in less than 60 seconds' bumper at the start.

Kind of miss the 'woaahh M6' at the start and end of each break though..

A clue to who the new 19/20 National presenter is on France 3 with this trailer promoting the regional bulletins. "let's be closer, let's see further" is the tagline at the end of this, followed by the new presenter hiding behind a clock.

France 24 will end broadcasting on DTT in Île-de-France, because of budget cuts, it broadcasted over the old frequencies of NRJ TV Paris https://www.broadbandtvnews.com/2021/01/15/france-24-drops-dtt-distribution/ I have to say, it feels like an obvious move to me. France 24 is an international channel, it's not really aimed at French people inside of France....in fact if I am not wrong there was a fierce debate in France over whether to make this channel available inside of France

Not a major loss, with IPTV and OTT being popular in France, they can still watch on their Freebox or similar streaming device, or on the Canal+ platform.

Franceinfo also simulcast France 24 from midnight to 6am, so will still be on DTT overnight.

It's a good job people have alternatives to DTT, with several transmitter sites having been vandalised by anti-5G protesters.

What is up with these people - bright enough to work out how to set fire to a transmitter to cause damage, but not bright enough to understand that their whole theory on 5G is total bollocks and neither site doesn't even put out 5G anyway?

Cavemen started fires, you don't need to be particularly bright to set them.

It's working out where to start them is the bit you have to get right, and also to be able to get through whatever basic security there is.

Let's hope that this doesn't start a world wide trend.

It would have been more useful for the English version of the channel to take that frequency since there is hardly any English language content on French TV that foreigners would be able to understand.
