TVP already operate Poland in English as an online channel. TVP World, which I presume will replace the former, was supposed to present the 'Polish viewpoint' abroad - seems odd that they now say they will try to reach polish citizens abroad... People who you would presume more to be in the market for a Polish language channel!
TVP is not a public broadcaster in the way we would recognise one as UK viewers. It is no BBC, ARD or even TVE.
There is no editorial independence or impartiality. Its board is heavily controlled by the ruling party at a time when that party is heavily involved in culture wars type rhetoric, picking fights at home and abroad.
The bald partisan output of TVP's 'news' division would make Fox News anchors wince at times.
TVP Info all but campaigned for Duda during the presidential elections last year
(and was quite hostile to the challenging mayor of Warsaw) and was hysterical about the recent and ongoing Women's Strike movement in the country over abortion rights.
At a time when the people in charge of the country are concerned that they are losing the propaganda battle overseas and losing womens' support at home, it's hardly surprising that TVP has been tasked with creating a world 'news' channel for international viewers and a new TVP Woman channel for home.
Its not even subtle!
Presentation is quite nice, however. One oddity though is how TVP seem to be moving away from a boxed logo, but two of the new channels seem to have inherited a hand-me-down TVP logo
