Interesting that the BBC didn’t want to interrupt the fun on Christmas Day and Boxing Day with a news bulletin, but they are happy to air one slap bang in the middle of the New Years Eve programming!

Straight from Paddy’s thing into headlines about Covid deaths, what a way to keep the spirits high!

NYE isn't really considered a special day compared to Christmas Day and Boxing Day until we get nearer to midnight. Normally BBC One is just films or special that weren't considered good enough for the other days.

Normally yes, but not this year as they commissioned a special live show

Not a normal New Years Eve though is it.

Is this Alicia Keys thing live or not? It's not been made clear.

Subtitles say it's prerecorded. Don't know how they'll manage the live link.

With just twenty minutes to the New Year, there are lots of us RF engineers sat here ready to go with the live OB - the biggest in the UK I've done this year.
It's a lot of work gone into the 10 minutes that we will be on air for.
I hope you all enjoy it, and Happy New Year from us all in the RF trucks in Central London.

The Scottish drone show looks pretty good. Actually would be a good ident concept for the right logo.

The Virgin EPG just says "on location in Los Angeles".

That was an amazing surprise and something to perk many people up into the New Year I feel. Well done all involved!
