Sydney is in a very different position to London.

Did I say it wasn't? I just said I hope they have something nice for the midnight chimes, whatever they can do within the restrictions and limits.

BBC One would not be wasting ten minutes at midnight if there was not something planned.

'The Big New Year's In' is channelling Pebble One at One and is using what looks likes the reception at Media City as a studio!

Love how that’s a studio. Watchdog vibes for a few years, of course.

So it's basically Big Fat Quiz of the Year without Jimmy Carr.

Paddy teased the midnight event as a light and firework extravaganza. Interpret that how you will.

Only saw the last 20 minutes of the Paddy thing but there was something weirdly Children in Need regional opt feeling about it.
JamesLaverty1925, JetixFann450 and tightrope78 gave kudos

Well, I’m not sure the producers of Big Fat Quiz would be a fan of that comparison.

Interesting that the BBC didn’t want to interrupt the fun on Christmas Day and Boxing Day with a news bulletin, but they are happy to air one slap bang in the middle of the New Years Eve programming!

Straight from Paddy’s thing into headlines about Covid deaths, what a way to keep the spirits high!

I don't watch the News anymore. We know what's going on, we know the rules, we know what tier we are in and frankly the MSM suck the life and soul out of living. They could have extended the Paddy show and just told viewers if they wanted to watch the News there will be a brief update at 10.15 but more in depth News for those that want it, on the news channel.

I agree that it's odd how on boxing day they went straight from football to Grease without any news at all from 1.pm to 10.40pm.

Yes, seemed odd they stuck virtually a full half hour at 10pm - Christmas Day showed a 2 minute update is sufficient to keep people informed and the schedule less depressing. At the very least do a short bulletin once people are too pissed to care later.

NYE isn't really considered a special day compared to Christmas Day and Boxing Day until we get nearer to midnight. Normally BBC One is just films or special that weren't considered good enough for the other days.
