Though the overnights are less and less relevant thanks to non-live viewing, is it surprising that there's been some decline when you can tailor your Christmas day entertainment as much as you can these days?
I didn't watch much TV on Christmas Day, but what I did watch I quite enjoyed. I thought Blankety Blank was great given the circumstances and I would certainly like it to return for a proper series. For me, it was one of the better gameshow reboots I've seen in recent years.
The other shows I enjoyed were It's Clarkson On TV and It'll Be Alright On The Night. I gave all the soaps and BGT etc. a big swerve as usual. Spent most of the evening listening to music on my new Echo Dot instead.
But the TV ratings are abysmal aren't they? Long gone are the days of the top shows getting 20m+ viewers. Even 8m for the Queen is really poor. Looks like a lot of people just gave up on TV completely this Christmas.
