Getting a news at ten feeling from this opening shot.
I do like it, it’s better than the weird awkward walk presenters would do at the start.

Why couldn't they do it like Wales. Shortening the graphics and then have a sweeping shot of the building whilst the last half of the actual music plays out.

This trend of music not fitting visuals started in 2013 with the News channel long titles and seems to be rubbing off on the nations. How any person can think it looks good is anyone's guess.

Horrible quality, but a look at new standing desk for Reporting Scotland. Still no idea on when they will be debuting.

It's VERY similar.... I wonder, I wonder.

I wonder what they’ll do for politics Scotland when it returns in the new year as they usually use the small desk that used to be there. Presumably move to the big desk?

A new desk can't hide a poor dated set.

We'll talk about poor & dated, when you live in one of the various English Regions that still have N6 style sets...

If they want to update anything they should go full hog and update the set and titles. Just look at how good Wales Today looks now.

When you consider how many refreshes and updates occur across BBC Nations and Regions, BBC Scotland have had little compared to say BBC Wales. A fellow nation’s flagship show, Wales Today’s titles, graphics and set have all been updated much more since the 1999 standardization. Rep Scot seems to get pitiful refreshes and updates. I can only assume that bosses are either wanting The Nine to be their flagship or that they just don’t care about Rep Scot now.

I feel like some of this is at the discretion of each region. While there are certain refreshes that are clearly centrally mandated (1999, 2008, 2013, 2019), others feel like they are taken by each region. Some English regions, for instance, have had far more sets than others - some have only had two sets since 1999 (usually through refreshing the hell out of the 1999 one) while others have had four. If some of these rebrands are 'non-essential' then they presumably come out of the region's budgets and some may choose to spend their money on non-cosmetic things. It would be great to get an insider's take on this.
