I think there’s a bit of nostalgia from at least one poster for the original Super Sunday theme (“Here we go, this is it!”) which was used for Sky’s first five seasons (and I think was the only specially commissioned theme Super Sunday ever used). But it might be forgotten that it was almost entirely talked over, either by Bruce Hamill (I think) with “Sky Sports brings you to the heart of the action...FORD SUPER SUNDAY!” or by Richard Keys giving the speil on the broadcast to come. More headline bed than theme really, and it would never fit in with Sky’s coverage today. And I think it’s common case that the two hour build up of early Super Sundays was far too long for a regular league game. It’s a pity Sky have never really settled on a consistent memorable theme since, though I’ve a soft spot for Written in the Stars which was used for most of the first half of the 2010s.
The closest thing I can think of to a long running theme tune on Sky is 'Inner Smile' which was their League Cup theme music for well over 10 years and seemed to outlast many a Sky Sports presentation style or PL theme tune.
I do find that even when Sky do pick what feels a good song as their PL theme song they maybe don't take full advantage of the song. Kasabian's 'Club Foot' and Tom Grennan's 'Found What I've Been Looking For' were both fantastic tracks and really should've felt far more lively as Sky theme songs but ended up feeling slightly bland and uneventful.
I have a soft spot for some of the theme tunes/presentation they used around the turn of the millenium like the two below. I enjoyed the real elements like fans, stadiums in the title sequences and also some of the theme tunes make me instantly nostalgic.
As for theme tunes I didn't like - Moloko's 'Time Is Now' was completely forgettable and seemed to stick around for years (with it being used for Ford sponsor bumpers too for SSN it seemed to be impossible to avoid). And 'Higher' by Labrinth grated on me purely for the 'Hmmmmmmmm' into and out of every break.
