Disney dropping references to 'Fox' in their acquired assets

20th Century Fox film studio will become 20th Century Studios,

Luckily, their iconic searchlight logo and fanfare music is staying, which I'm quite happy about as they cannot take away a movie icon such as this logo.

Though it'd be nice if the fanfare got a new recording for 2020 to keep it fresh for the 21st century. Their current version of the fanfare has been around since 1997.

Well, the logo actually predates the 20th Century Pictures merger with Fox Films, which happened in 1935, so it makes sense it'll be kept. Movies will probably put Studios in the space, and TV shows will probably just delete the Fox line leaving it reading 20th Century Television.

I don't see a problem with continuing to use "20th Century" for one of the longest established film studios in the world. It harks back to the very early days of film.

I think it was Futurama that sent up the 20th Century Fox name, and labelled it as 30th Century Fox in a mock endcap.

Long established "things" or traditions are not uncommon in the film studios, MGM's current lion mascot dates from the 1950s for a start, and Columbia's statue isn't too much different from how it looked in the 1920s. Warners Brothers hasn't changed too much (apart from that strange one they used in the 1980s) since coming along either, since it's shield design has its roots in the 1920s.

Going off-topic I often enjoy it at the cinema when films get to have fun with the film studio logo titles. Happy Death Day had the Universal logo restart multiple times. Zombieland Double Tap had Columbia deal with a couple attacking zombies. I can't recall which relatively recent 20th Century Fox film saw its logo and surroundings decaying.

Since found a couple of those special studio titles...

Also the 20th Century Fox film I was thinking of was Alita Battle Angel.
