The latest BBC debate only got 2.2m, I think the novelty of the debates especially ones without the big names has worn off and I suspect ITV's debate on Sunday will be crushed against Strictly and HDM.

I personally think for future elections, they need to streamline the TV debates and perhaps limit each broadcaster to one debate/forum. In other countries like Canada and Australia, there is only 4 or 5 debates.

I'm assuming due to the addition of the PM on Andrew Marr, the show has been extended again to 10.15. It was originally due to end at the normal time of 10 this week.

I thought people here might be overreacting about the remixed Arthur theme, but no it is that bad. What on earth were they thinking adding the pips in?

Visuals for the debate opener were quite nice though, but from what I saw not convinced Nick Robinson was the right choice to moderate.

Nice reaction from the BBC. But it’s also an admission that Andrew Marr is too lightweight to conduct the interview and only Neil will do!

Additionally, on Marr, the slot would probably be much shorter than 30mins.

If it was 30mins, it could be cut and paste and reshown “as live” during the prime time slot same day.

Which leads me back to my first point.......

Johnson needs to face Andrew Neil. Marr is just been steamrollered by his persistent bluster and seems unable to keep control of the interview.

Marr was absolutely frustrating as hell. He literally wouldn’t let Johnson finish a sentence. I’m all for leaders being challenged but the level at which he was interrupting will probably be the main takeaway from the interview at the expense of what was actually said.

I'm sure in this current climate, the best thing for the BBC to do would be to fake the illness of a presenter...

almost as if he was trying to prove he was as good as Neil. BBC really threw both their star interviewers under the bus with this whole saga.

I had high hopes for the David Lowe reworking of "Arthur" but I'm afraid I, too, am disappointed with what I've heard so far. It sounds very cheap - horrible synthy horns and unnecessary beeps and drums added. It just lacks oomph. I guess it was too much to hope for that it could live up to Rick Wakeman's original, or even his 1997 remix. Oh well.

I'm not sure as yet what ITV News is going to use for its election programme. I suspect it might be the 2015 theme again, as it aligns so closely to their existing brand, but I'm not certain yet. I would like them to go with something different again, though. I feel that election night deserves some unique branding to set it apart for the occasion that it is. ITV's 2010 theme was fantastic - really punchy and upbeat - but I did quite like the 2001 and particularly 2005 versions the most. Before 2001, ITV used library music for their election themes.

I think Brekkie commented a few pages ago that the ITN atrium looks small in the photo that was posted. Just to say it is actually very small in real life - much smaller than the wide angle cameras would have you believe. It's quite a cosy space, really - but quite spectacular on a sunny day. It's quite small down at the ITN end, but looking up to the glass roof, the atrium opens out quite spectacularly.

It was always going to be a damp squib after all the hype of the Neil interviews.

There are suggestions now on Twitter that PM has now agreed to the Neil interview. And, after so much hype over it, it’s probably going to be a huge let-down and not the wrecking ball we all expect it to be. (I predict).

Well played, Conservatives! Lol.

I was really hoping after the Prince Andrew interview many interviews would have taken a leaf from the book of Emily Maitliss and realised that actually pausing and giving people time to answer is how you can get gold from an interview. Politicians are far more likely to mess up if you leave them dead air to fill rather than if you badger them into answering the same question over and over again three seconds after you asked it.
