The return of Saturday morning telly - well almost (May 2017)

They need to edit down the Dangermouse episodes, we don't need the opening titles played twice during the show and that would give them more studio time.

Officially when L&K moved into TC6 it used only the same amount of space as was available in TC7. After a while they expanded a bit.

When you think of how Going Live and L&K mkI looked on screen compared to how small the space looked when news moved in (ok with some space taken up by the barcos) it's clear that a clever set and camera angles can make a smallish space look a lot bigger on screen. Although perhaps not quite so much now we're in widescreen.

Though of course both in TC6 and TC7 L&K also utilised the set storage areas outside the studios and the doughnut atrium mostly for its competition segments.

I see the CBBC Channel are carrying on the tradition of having a spinning DOG with the programme’s name which I last recall seeing with TMi.

The Playlist seems to be their scaled down version of The Chart Show after Mash Up.

The first episode of Mash Up isn't on iPlayer yet so i'll check it out when it appears online.

I used to be able to get up in time for 9am on a Saturday to watch Live & Kicking/SMTV Live/M.O.M

I don't think i''ll be able to get back in to old habits this time around!

I thought it was ok. Not as good as TMi even in its dying days, but give it a few weeks and it will be a lot better.
The atmosphere seemed slightly "off" though. As another poster mentioned, the kids in the studio aren't quite sure what to make of it as the concept of the show is quite alien. A lot of them looked scared!
A lot of features and links were delivered with no music bed underneath too, and whilst I'm not usually a fan of a constant bed, it felt like it needed it to liven it up and break the silence.
And I don't think Hacker should talk to the kids. He definitely scares them up close and we got a few "WTF" obvious glances down as the puppeteer moved between them out of shot.

If TMi had been on in the halcyon days it would have been huge. Especially in the first series it derserved to be a lot bigger than it was. (A shame that the second series onwards was poor in comparison).

Me too, I'm feeling old (even though I'm only 31...)

I hope they air Dennis and Gnasher Unleashed as part of the show when it airs.

The CBBC logo colours. That's definitely a good CBBC on BBC2 ident.

I hope they air Dennis and Gnasher Unleashed as part of the show when it airs.

I don't, unless it has another timeslot elsewhere - anything shown within the Saturday morning cartoon blocks (i.e. CITV's Scrambled) doesn't get listed in the TV guides and EPGs.

#SaturdayMashUp was the 5th thing trending in the UK. Not bad.
