Watching the film on ITV1 Wales tonight and during the advert break those coloured squares appeared between each advert, so why are they there sometimes and not others? Confused

If Wales sees the 4 squares inter-ad bumper thingymajig, then it's a mistake and they're not meant to. I think HTV West take them, and this may be a factor? Or perhaps the film was coming direct from London with the squares in the ad break intact, cos Cardiff were busy doing something?

Either way it's not supposed to happen. But then, with this slapdash ITV1 set-up now, what do you expect..?

Nice to know that Ruth popped up on news-reading duties for the late bulletin. Equally nice to see Tara yesterday morning too. Sally Johnson was back this morning however. It's turning into an Andrew 'Smiler' Jones drought!

It was nice to see Sally on GMTV yes - and Andrew probably has his usual three days off as he did the weekend.

But I disagree - I couldnt think of anyone worse to do the late news other than Ruth Wignall = I saw it last night and she seemed so false.

TUT TUT at you Whataday for starting a new thread about an ITV1Wales ident earlier!

Also where have you been lately Whataday? - there have been many better things worth talking about on here rather than a poxy generic ident before the news?

Where shall i start.....................

wrong itv1 idents on itv1wales,
incorrect voice-overs being heard,
blank screens,
etc etc

Where were you all????

As this is the "Wales" thread, I'm going off on a different tangent - S4C...

be ma pawb yma'n ei feddwl o 'lineup' newydd S4C?? h.y. ers i Pobol y Cwm (cringe!!) gael ei symud i slot hwyrach ac ati? Dwi'n meddwl ei fod o o leia' yn rhoi cyfle i raglenni eraill ddatblygu... ond dwi'n sylwi fod S4C yn dal i ddefnyddio'r clipiau o'r speaker fel ident - pan mae gennon nhw rai gymaint yn well!!
Unrhyw raglenni werth eu gweld ar S4C yn ddiweddar?

The new line-up on S4C~ doesn't really appeal to me, although I have, on occasion, caught myself watching Rownd a Rownd [don't shoot me!], or the repeat of Jara -- which is typical S4C~ weirdness. Wedi 6 was perhaps a decent progression from Heno [I liked the titles! They sounded a lot like Heno anyway], which had been around for over 20 years, but this Wedi 7 business looks awful. Ugh. Pobol Y Cwm, the flagship programme on S4C~ shouldn't be moved around so much, it looks unprofessional, and it's clearly dodging the other soaps on BBC ONE and HTV -- it needs to promote itself more confidently, and less of this "Wela i chi'n hwyrach" business.

There are no other new evening programmes around, that they're developing though -- the same old nonsense there has been for years, Ffermio, Cefn Gwlad.. Although Slaymaker's now repeated at 6.30, which it never used to be. That's not bad. They had Planed Plant-turned-boyband-member-turned-mini-celebrity Rhydian Bowen Phillips last time I watched.

Indeed, none of us like Speaker, or the Egg-Cup one while we're on it. They're pathetic, computer generated efforts, nothing like the excellent ones S4C~ had to offer in the past, but have for some reason dropped. All they use is Mouse, Stapler, Magic Hat, Garlic Crusher, the 2 new ones, Pencil one for summat serious, and the Sport one [Screen]. No more Scissors, Kite, Sousaphone, Water Hydrant, Pedal Bin, Tuba, Tongs, Dragonman, Light on a Pole, Spray can, Shower Head, Lawnmower -- stupid waste really. At least S4C~ use menus now though.. Trail end boards are boring now.

Apart from those mentioned I never really watch any Welsh programmes. Fondue Rhyw a Deinosors was very weird in a good kinda way, and yes I'll admit to watching Pam Fi Duw, but erm, that's never coming back is it. Whatever happened to Uned 5? Is that still going?

Yeah, Uned 5 is still going - every Friday at 4. Check out http://www.uned5.co.uk
Has anyone caught it recently? There's a new lineup of presenters (again), and it's been relaunched quite heavily - but it's getting a lot better recently from what I've seen. It's become very much the Welsh Blue Peter - it's been around for years, and who can imagine Planed Plant without it?!!! lol!!
I think S4C made a bad move with promoting Pobol y Cwm so heavily during the relaunch - I think they need to concentrate on other programmes (particularly Rownd a Rownd which is SO much better) to get the punters back in.

Aha. Ta for that. So Carwyn Llyr from Rownd a Rownd isn't on it anymore? And William Bedwyr Rees and Lowri someone -- I remember them doing it too. Have they at least kept the same dog?

I have nothing against Uned 5 -- quite low budget fun for kids on a Friday -- only on once a week now then? Although it's comparable to Blue Peter I suppose, I hate Blue Peter, so there's obviously something different with Uned 5 [apart from the language]. Perhaps it's not so erm, prissy, middle-class and condescending. Yeah, that'll be it.

So that'll be Uned 5 at... 4pm? Hmm, that makes sense. They changed Wedi 6 to Wedi 7! Uned Pedwar -- doesn't really sound the same.

Lots of S4C~ shows are *such* blatant rip-offs of English language shows though! Ffeil is a quite well presented version of Newsround though -- and has a superior studio too! Since of course it uses the main BBC Wales one, doesn't it? Or the other one. Either way it's nice. I don't follow Rownd a Rownd that closely, I just see it whenever. Pam Fi Duw was very funny though and I do miss that. Especially Brian Hibbard.

Children's programmes *is* an area where I think S4C~ have done quite well. Of course I've long grown out of them, but I can still appreciate that most of them are pretty decent. With the exception of the *awful* Y Rhaglen Wirion 'Na -- with Rhodri Owen, who's EVERYWHERE. Ugh. Very annoying. He's some sort of movie director now isn't he? Still does Wish You Were Here, mind. Didn't he do Short Change?

Christ, I'm rambling now..

Nice to see the current state of ITV1Wales continuing in a very bad way.
At this rate it will be off to London before you can say 'Kally Adderkin-Hall.'

That name rings a bell - I think I used to work with her in England. Has she been on the tv in Wales too?

Dan - Kally Adderkin Hall was a reporter on HTV Wales News a few years ago but left the station.

She used to be a reporter on HTV Wales News. She left about 2 years ago I think.
