Seeings as BBC Parliament doesn't have "actual idents" as such, I suspect that S4C2 doesn't either?

BBC Parliament does have an ident.... although whether it is 'actual' or not I have no idea Laughing

I thought that BBC Parliament only had those "sting"-length "title sequences" leading into each programme. i.e. The "spinning cogs" (or whatever it is) background, and plain white writing overlayed, saying what the coverage is of (e.g. "Select Committees" or whatever)?????

Do they actually have something with, say, "BBC Paliament" written in the middle of the screen (and therefore, effectively, and ident)????

I've only ever briefly flicked past the channel, and never really stayed on it much. I've never noticed an "ident" as such...

EDIT: Just found this using Google Images. I assume that it's a screen grab of something that animates? And therefore is BBC Parliament's ident? Embarassed

Have S4/C ditched their Dog? I've noticed that its not there on some Programmes? Its still there on promos?

Yes I asked them to re-consider its usage in general.. and they did. The logo still appears in the top-left corner on promos. The DOG will still be used on S4C Two and on any interactive services.

S4/C seem like they’re a bit of a push over! One email asking them to reconsider the use of the dog and they turn it off, simple as that. Whereas thousands of viewers (with too much time on their hands) write to ITV and BBC to remove their dogs and they 100% blatantly refuse and come up with some sop story about why we need Dogs in the digital age!

They just think viewers are so stupid they won't know what channel they're watching.

If a TV channel is any good I'm sure viewers don't need a DOG to tell them what channel they're watching, they'll take note of the channel for future viewing and tune back in.

As has been said, an EPG can easily be brought up at a touch of a button, and hey presto...there is the channel name.

DOGs are just they're for OTT branding purposes.

Actually I've discussed it with them a few times since 2003 (not a campaign but maybe an email once a year pointing out the issues, asking them to re-consider DOGs on drama and documentaries at least). I discussed it with their press officer too (which sort of indicates they were treating it as a PR problem to be managed). However, they have a new chief exec, a new branding - it seemed a good time to try again.

Anybody got any caps of the schools ident? I wouldn't mind seeing it properly, as I can only DX S4C, and the reception has been a lot worse than other times recently. I did see it running for about 2m30 this morning, at the end of the schools session. If anybody has more than about 1m30 of the dragon / carousel one, that would be nice to see too.

Are there still 'schools' programmes? Seems like it's more of an 'education' slot. Here's a clip of the chasing lines, if that's what you wanted to see. Music sounds like it could be by Acid Casuals, who are mentioned in the press release.

Well now isn't it hypnotic -- I think I lost about 6 minutes of my life watching it the other day.

C4 don't seem to use schools idents anymore, so the overnight simulcast now means S4C see clean C4 idents, which is something I've never seen happen before -- with them usually being quite tight at covering C4's continuity [except with BB].

Not caught any info screens on either service as yet, perhaps discontinued? The lovely music went a while ago anyway.

Also, the new stuff broke down on the first day last week, Alun Ceri Jones was awake to put this sort of thing on

That's one interesting Breakdown "bumper" if I could call it that.
