Will they even launch Oxford before Manchester or Lancashire?
If it's anything like That's Solent, viewers in the North West will have to be prepared for a dull fest.

Let's see if they get all the way through it before getting too excited.
Anyway, I'm beginning to think the Evening Standard owners actually set up various businesses to bid for licences in the other big cities and then pull out in order to make London Live look better. We always knew Local TV would be an uphill struggle but I always kind of assumed channels would fail from being over ambitious, rather than the channels themselves being an absolute amatuer embarrassment. London Live may have had it's issues and some presenters and editorial choices have been questionable but at least it's always looked of a comparable standard to the main network and to television of today.
I've just got a horrible feeling the licence fee payer will pick up the bill ultimately when it becomes clear these are not viable commercially, but politicians won't back down on it.

Back from the break with no audio in the studio. However the sound quality on the package being played at 2145 is a lot better.

Totally agree Brekkie. It certainly had issues at launch, but it's always looked and felt like a proper tv channel.
If London Live had got its act together earlier, they could have been in a good position to open inBirmingham and Manchester. Sharing the C4 output and perhaps adding a few 'local' dramas to replace the London's Burning repeats, a half decent news service and a couple of other local shows could have strengthened the whole local tv offer and even offered the national sustaining service.

I notice that a516digital is reporting that Manchester and Preston will now be run by That's TV. Has anyone heard anything more on this?

It appears That's TV have acquired the licences from YourTV for Manchester and Preston as they're advertising job vacancies for both channels.
The Preston licence will be branded That's Lancashire.

Looks like it came down to the fact Your TV's business was based on acquiring as many licences as possible and building up funds based on the economy of scale of running a larger amount of licences. In the end, they only got two, despite having a large scale one in the form of Manchester.
