That started about a week or so ago - I've seen adverts for Home and Away as well.

A graphic designer for Channel 5 has shown what Celebrity Big Brother would have looked like if the Channel 5 refresh would’ve been earlier.

Does this mean that the refresh most probably would have been delayed?

Probably just an example of how it can adapt for different programming.

The whole of eye thing is quirky but I don't like it.

I've decided I'm not a fan of the refresh, it's a definite improvement on what they had and the circles work well enough but are repetitive and boring once you have seen one. Personally, I think a massive overhaul in the form of a rebrand would have been the most sensible thing to do, the current look is tiresome and doesn't reflect the station - then again with their constant trying to be everything what would?

The eye looks very nice, and shows what can be done.
I like the update overall, and it has definitely refreshed it well. I know what you're saying about an overall refresh, but I think Viacom have got to work out what they want the channel to be first. At the moment some nights seem to be aiming at an older audience with western films and documentaries about world war 2, with others presumably seeking a younger audience with Gotham and under the dome, etc.

In terms of branding a station that offers a mix of programmes, surely a simple logo is key, itv seem to have done that very well.

Yeah I'll be honest and say I do agree that it is probably best for Viacom to work out what they want the channel to be before they rebrand it. If C5 was to continue in the way it was a low key logo would be best but because, as I understand, Viacom are planning to ditch the majority of the trash shown and build on creating a stronger schedule a less bland logo may not be required. With that said, because the programmes would still vary they may opt for a more simple logo but a low key logo doesn't need to be as simple as a 5 in a circle because as you say itv have done well to keep a mixed schedule but with a very good logo, C5 should do the same.

When you say get rid of the trash, are you referring to some of the topics in documentaries that they've aired recently, or just lower rating programmes?

Sorry I should have clarified, I meant shows such as "Hens Behaving Badly", "Benefits Britain: Life on the Dole", I suppose any show that bares similaraties to something C4 have just shown. I certainly did read somewhere around the time of Viacom's acquisition they planned to get rid of these type of shows to focus on developing stronger UK content and building on US imports.

Gotham launched last night to 2.1m viewers. Great ratings for the show and one of the biggest audiences for Channel 5 in a while. They have also secured the rights to the revamped Bob the Builder and will show it on Milkshake.

AS long as a good selection of new British content is added into the mix, I think Ch5 is going to look pretty decent .
