Any sign of this rebrand?
No. It will be "later in the year" so your guess is as good as ours.

I'm pretty sure Broadcast or some such publication will have details of it and the launch date soon before it happens, so just sit tight. Smile

5★ is extending its broadcasting hours and will now come on air at 9am and stay until 3am from 1st August.

No more teleshopping from midnight to 1pm. Some new programmes are starting too, so looks like Viacom is beginning to properly make use of the spin-offs. Hopefully 5 USA follows suit when it is able.

I am hoping TV Land will appear at some point and feel perhaps 5 USA will get dumped for it.

Having Googled TV Land, I'd imagine it'd be unlikely given its hard to work out what the brand is and basically seems like a repeats channel for obscure (to a UK audience) US TV shows. I imagine Viacom would see 5 brand extension valuable and would want that brand to have some additional multi-channel presence, 5 USA has a pretty simple and strong brand point of difference.

At least Spike even from the name gives you an idea of what the channel is going for.

TV Land an OK name for a TV pres site not for a TV channel in the UK's multichannel era.

Speaking of TV Land, they've recently rebranded to shift towards modern, 'younger' programmes, and shifting the classic shows to a programming block instead.

5USA has been more successful compared to 5*, it does show some non US shows like Rookie Blue and Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, neither which are American but it has remained the same whereas 5* has never really found its purpose.

I wouldn't be surprised if they announce it at the Edinburgh TV fest next month.

Well I think anything North American isn't going to raise any eyebrows as far as non-pandantic viewers are concerned and I guess the Aussie thing is probably similar in format to American shows of the same nature to make it a good fit.

MFMM is really much more UK than US, as far as Australian shows go.

How long has the mission impossible sponsor ident been in use? Also I think we know where the rebrand is going, the new Football league show promo look a lot like Spike format..

Channel 5 has greenlit a British version of Spike’s smash hit US entertainment format, Lip Sync Battle.

Presenting and performing talent will be announced in due course, with the series expected to premiere in the UK early in 2016.

Director of Programmes, Ben Frow commented: “There is a great buzz around Lip Sync Battle – it’s one of the most talked-about and fought-over formats in the world of TV right now. We’re excited that our developing relationship with Spike in the U.S. has made a UK version of the show possible and look forward to bringing entertainment back to the heart of Channel 5 primetime.

The award-nominated US version of Lip Sync Battle is hosted by two-time Grammy award winner, LL Cool J and has featured an array of A-list musical combatants.

Based on the pop culture phenomenon of lip sync battling, the Spike original series features celebrities going head-to-head – lip-syncing the song of their choice – battling for the coolest bragging rights on the planet.

The series is a ratings and multiplatform superstar for Spike and is the most-watched original series in the network’s history, averaging nearly 3 million viewers.

The US series has been re-commissioned for 20 more episodes in 2016.

I lost interest in Lip Sync Battle pretty quickly. I liked the premise but once I'd finished watching the first episode, it didn't take long for the novelty to wear off.

So, what UK 'celebrities' will they be able to muster up? Some TOWIE cast members and Z Listers we don't give a damn about.

Part of the show's USP was seeing really famous people participating in the sillyness, just how big a star are they going to get over here? I don't hold out much hope.
