Wasn't there talk a few months ago about there being a regional news update late on Sunday?

There's already a late edition on a Sunday.

Jen Bartram has now left the BBC, her last forecast was a couple of days ago.

Lisa isn't back until August so expect some cover faces on Breakfast and at weekends every now and then probably

I don't see why as they have three weather presenters with 2 shifts per day, so there should always be someone available. with Keeley and Kay doing earlies and Paul doing the pm shift and one of the females doing cover on that when he's off. At weekends, there's only one update now on Saturday, so that should be easy to cover too.

Do you mean Saturday? There was a Saturday lunchtime bulletin which was dropped a few months ago without warning.

Ah, well there was certainly some talk, from memory, of increasing the number of regional news bulletins over the weekend.

They did increase them, and then a few years later with the DQF cuts there was also talk of reducing them, which then also happened.

The Saturday lunchtime and Sunda late opts were introduced to bolster regional output a few years ago. DQF was partly responsible for killing off the Saturday lunchtime opt, but the Sunday Late opt actually rates extremely well so is being kept. The afternoon regional bulletin at 1500 was also lost as part of DQF.

DQF was also one of the reasons for the reduction of regional weather presenters. A few years ago each programme had a live weather, even Breakfast opts and most main centres had three weather presenters. This has now been reduced, with the introduction of weather hubs for provision of breakfast, lunchtime and weekend forecasts. 1830 and late weathers are still live in the majority of programmes (though the late weather for centres without their own presenter they remain prerecorded.)

While it's nice to see Peter Levy twice a night now, I've just tweeted him to remind him the programme the next bulletin is on is not called "Breakfast News" and hasn't been called that since, probably, he was doing those bulletins himself.

To save anyone else the bother, this is almost certainly down to a weak editor/Levy's ego/Levy not being a proper journalist and Levy should be fired and the region abolished immediately. Or something like that.

Come to think of it, quite a few presenters on Reporting Scotland say "Breakfast Time", i don't think they mean referance to the old show's name, but rather them saying they'll be back at breakfast time, as in when they say lunchtime. Wink

I watch the Yorkshire Look North on the tele and the Lincolnshire Look North on iPlayer (Mainly to see the 'banter' between Peter and Paul / Keeley !), anyway a couple of interesting things this evening :-

Both had a lead story on HS3, Yorkshire were talking about what it could bring to Leeds and Manchester etc whilst Lincolnshire were moaning about the fact Hull have seemingly been missed out of the plans (Oh no!!!)

Yorkshire had Keeley with Harry on the sofa and Paul doing the weather! Last week Keeley did both the sofa role and the weather role!

Same lead was in the North East.

I wish they'd stop with these French pronunciations when talking about the Tour de France. Sounds daft and too try hard. only 'depart' should be said the French way.

Calendar were live with Duncan in Haworth and Look North were live with Amy in Sheffield, the first of a week of OBs for both channels.

I can't believe that former Calendar Presenter Marylyn Webb has died. She was an excellent presenter and reported on Calendar and she'll be missed. I was only a lad when she was on our screens, but I always used to enjoy watching her and Richard Whiteley bring me the day's local news.
