Here we go...

*
Here's the lead story. Peter learning how to drive a tractor
*
Peter reading the rest of today's main news. They couldn't have gone back to the studio for this bit because Helen Philpott and Hannah Moffat were also at the Lincolnshire Show!
*
The very fawning interview as you put it, with Peter taking part in a competition to see how loud and over the top you can laugh at a slightly funny story
*
Calendar viewers wondering who this bloke is interviewing Barbara Dickson
*
Paul getting a round of applause for doing the weather

Laughing Well lets just say it wasnt the same as 2 years ago when Helen was there as well. But who decides the format of the programme? The editor used to be a GMTV producer.

Well I just thought it was 'nice' to have the full programme this year from the Show.

There should really have had a section of news from back in the studio, every other news programme would have done. Having Peter read what was basically about 2 stories sat in a plastic chair in front of some stalls was ridiculous

On the same day, Calendar went pear shaped, the opening titles played very badly, the headlines wouldn't run and neither would the report for the lead story, John Shires live from Headingley had to rescue it whilst they sorted out their technical problems

The news of Richard Whitely is so sad. Such a Brilliant Man. R.I.P Richard.

Good coverage on YTV, as it is being refered to, this morning on GMTV and throughout the day. Duncan Wood was in early presenting. The Flag at Kirkstall Road is at half mast in respect.

The same on Look North many tributes.

Calendar is understandably dedicating its show to Richard Whiteley tonight at 6:00pm.

A bit harsh, he did have something to contribute having been a friend of Richard's so it was valid having him on the programme.

Let's just say that when I saw your name as the last contributer to this thread I knew what your post would be saying.

Slightly surprised that Calendar wasn't broadcast in 4:3 rather than cropping everything to 14:9 giving the inevitable large amount of archive footage tonight.
Write that down in your copybook now.

The whole of tonights Calendar was a tribute to Richard, with contributions from many former colleagues and friends and much archive footage. The show opened with a montage of clips of Richard to the 80's ? Calendar theme.

Marilyn Webb, former Calendar presenter from years ago payed tribute, Geoff Druett was in the studio. Christa also featured on Calendar for the first time in years, with a short soundbite. There was no other news in the half hour.

Richard was a legend and will be greatly missed.

A very moving and emotional Calendar this evening. A great presenter to be missed by many. It was also nice to see BBC Leeds giving him a similar send off using some of the Duncan Wood interview shown on Calendar/ITV News and that Christa and Harry wearing a blck tie/dress.

I think at moments like this it is very wise to be respectful and even though Dickie Bird was wheeled out, he has featured on Calendar and Look North throughout the last 37 years.

I think it ought to be left at that.
