Would this warrant STV News to go into rolling coverage? Would make it make sense for STV Glasgow to go into rolling coverage on its own until the full network ramps up to a full broadcast and then they do a simulcast across all channels?

Since the BBC, STV, Sky all have office and personnel in the area and Glasgow being a major UK city why doesnt have anyone live images? Amazing. Does it make sense to have sky cams in the major squares and skylines across the major cities in the country? Maybe they can make that investment. Its not that expensive to build a live webcam network. Wonder if its against OFCOM rules to have it sponsored to help with the costs (probably not). WBMA-Birmingham AL uses a camera network sponsored by ALFA insurance. They actually sponsor 3 cam networks in 3 states.

Arent there any LIVEU (etc) packs they can grab and go to get pics up immediately.

Of course the BBC is still saying "serious incident" over and over....

What pictures, beyond the dustcart stuffed into the building are you wanting or expecting to see ?

You seem to be terribly excited over what is actually a very gruesome and tragic event. Rather like 'rubbernecking' on a motorway ?

BBC News now displaying the Police Scotland incident hotline if you have any concerns relating to the incident: 01786 289 070.

Such a tragic incident especially at this time of year.

Good to see the use of STV Glasgow opting out of the normal schedule pretty quick. (A phone call to Comux probably to arrange the switch to the studio). This is where local tv is useful, especially for STV where they only have their regional news slot at 6pm to report in depth on the main STV channel when it's taking ITV network output.

I won't be surprised if STV West/East combine for a pan Central belt bulletin at 6.

"News and current affairs programmes must not be sponsored" is the salient point of the OFCOM Broadcasting Code.

The code also has a number of provisions surrounding taste and decency, which I suspect the only kind of shots which could be obtained in Glasgow whilst the emergency services were dealing with the matter might not be compliant with.

The description of what is alleged to have happened is graphic enough on Sky News without having to see the gory detail.

It seems the north has also taken the pan reports from Glasgow.

Thats your opinion. No one is "terribly excited". What a monstrous accusation. I think like everyone that was first hearing the news, I wanted to know what happened and if anyone was hurt (We eventually found out it was horrific). No one was saying or advocating they should be broadcasting anything graphic or disturbing images like bodies or blood or anything like that. But of course on this forum everyone jumps to conclusions as per normal. TV is a visual medium, if there were no images to broadcast then it would be radio. An overview of the scene from a distance would suffice until they can get a normal shot set up. (in fact Sky News did take the webcam still from the Glasgow city council website with a view across the square, which only show the emergency services vehicles) But it seems like it takes forever for some channels to get anyone on scene for an incident in the middle of a major city. But eventually they did and what they broadcast is what I was referring to not bodies being recovered or draped in white clothes. It just took forever to get set up. As we all know well unfortunately, news isnt always press conferences and staged events. Tragic events happen and must be covered sensitively and with compassion, but can still covered aggressively. That is their job to report the news.

Anyway did STV Glasgow or STV provide rolling coverage?
