Kay has just signed-off after that marathon stint on-air. Hands the baton to Adam Boulton and Niall Paterson.

Well done, Kay.

And that transition into GMB? A complete shambles. If ITN had been producing this, one imagines a hard-handover or clock-start would have been agreed with the network in advance and adhered to. It’s hardly rocket science is it?

To be fair, I vaguely remember that the transition to Daybreak from ITN's US election coverage in 2012 was equally messy.

I watched that. It ended at 6:20 a.m. and Daybreak started immediately after it. Presumably, the fact that ITV plc owns all of the ITV breakfast franchise allows for more flexibility than there was in the days of TV AM and GMTV.

The on-screen clock was slow on STV (spotted this at midnight), could it be that there was a small unintentional delay on the ITV re-broadcast which caused the crash into GMB at 6:00?

Bernard didn't look to happy at 6am when ITV opted out, the shake of the head said it all...

Possibly they thought the cut off was 06:00:00, but they hadn't realised it was probably 05:59:50 to accommodate an ident?

Worth mentioning that Ruptly, a division of RT are streaming George Square live on YouTube where at present there is a very large police presence due to the amount of bigoted Rangers fans who think that football has some relevance to the referendum...

If I'd been coordinating it I would organise for STV to play a sting up to 05:59.50 giving ITV a point to jump out.

Does anyone have caps of the STV breakfast show?
