ITV REGIONAL WEATHER

Im a bid confused as to how each of the weather presenters cover for each other. I've noticed in the granada regions that they have been using kerry gosney from Yorkshire, whilst in the Yorkshire region, alex Watson from Tyne tees is covering for Jon in Yorkshire. Why is it so complex?

Well before ITV Yorkshire used to cover for the whole of the Northern ITV Regions, however since all regions now have their own presenters , the neighbouring regions are all covering for each other. E.g. Tyne Tees often cover for Jon and Kerry in the Yorkshire Region.

Many thanks for your reply, what is still don't understand is why did Kerry not cover for Jon on Wednesday - it would have made more sense, and there would also have been the wonderful weather chat. On that day, Alex watson could have covered for the weather presenter in Granada (Jo Blythe - I think).

TVN, can we widen this discussion (title) to cover all regions, perhaps, on all channels? I am keen to know who is doing the weather on ITV Scotland and BBC Scotland these days. I assume still Sean Batty on STV? Heather the Weather left BBCS, so not sure who is doing it these days.

Debbie Lindley was made redundant by ITV after serving for so many years, she was one of ITV Yorkshire longest serving Meteorologists with Jon Mitchell. She was freelance for a while, however it was only a short stint and she still presents her Saturday show on Real Radio.

As far as I can tell Jon Mitchell and Kerry Gosney are the main Yorkshire weather presenters, and Fred Talbot and Jo Blythe the main Granada Weather presenters.

Alex Watson appears as back-up for Yorkshire, and Kerry Gosney as back-up for Granada.

Fred never covers for any region does he - he's just dedicated to Granada (?) and I don't think Jon covers in Granadaland either does he ?

Emma Jesson is weekend cover on Granada isn't she - but you don't see her on Yorkshire (I don't think).

Jon Mitchell does cover other regions, he does appear on Tyne Tees from time to time. Im not sure about Fred, I think he is just for Granada. And Emma Jesson I think I have seen her on Yorkshire once.

I'm sure I've heard that Fred has covered on Central once or twice.

Fred's been doing the Central Weather on and off for quite a while now.

I'm sure I've seen Jon Mitchell do the weather on Granada before in the past.

I think I've seen him present Granada Weather once since the Weather got re-regionalised last year. Quite interestingly Emma Jesson was presenting all day yesterday too, as on Granada Reports she was presenting from the Roof garden at Quay Street, but that kind of confused me to whether the weekend forecasts were coming from Granada or Central.

Problem for Granada is that Fred Talbot is the only full time forecaster, Jo Blythe I guess is still part time, so it's probably fair to guess that Fred is on a well earned break.

I thought Jo was the main weather presenter for Granada and Fred was the stand-in although I much prefer Fred, maybe I am worng. It is always good to see Kerrie but Emma seems to be good too. There was someone new last week during Daybreak on Wednesday morning, unsure who he was.
