This seems to keep on coming up in other threads, but I thought it would be a good idea to assimilate all the information that's out there into the one place. (I'm fairly sure I've got this the right way round, but I'm sure noggin will correct me if I've not)

At present:
N6 is used for the One, Six, Ten, daytime news summaries, plus HARDtalk/Extra Time, Have Your Say, Head 2 Head and Newswatch.
TC7 is used for Breakfast, Working Lunch, Newsround, Newsnight, Sunday AM and and The Politics Show.
TC11 is currently out of use, but has most recently been home to The 7 O'Clock News, 60 Seconds, Newswatch, plus bits of Click Online and Fast Track, and occasional HARDtalks.

What's happening: N6 is getting a new set, and will possibly be getting some extra space to accomodate Breakfast.
TC7 will be getting a more versatile set which won't require as much resetting work between programmes - at present, it's rather a lot, several times a day.

How it's going to happen: The programmes in TC7 (except Breakfast) will temporarily relocate to TC11. Then, the programmes in N6 will move to TC7. (There may be a bit of N24 simulcasting on the nationals while this move takes place). A new set will be built in N6 for the nationals, etc; then they'll move back in. Then, TC7 will get its new set(s), and those programmes will move back home.

Simple, isn't it? Smile

Its belived to be happening over the next couple of months. June was one date mentioned for the relaunch of the nationals due to Sophie's arrival on the 1, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

"Have Your Say" previously known as "talking point" also comes from N6 and Extra Time!

So will the current sets move from studio to studio or will there be a temporary look to the programmes which are moving?

Work will start soon, though will take longer than you may expect.

Is N6 much bigger than we see on screen? ie will they be doing structural work to extend the studio itself to provide space for Breakfast as has been suggested, hence making work take longer "than you may expect"?

If I remember rightly... theres a tv documentary which showed N6 - it featured the old Royal Corresponandant I forget her name now.

It looked quite small if I remember.

As marski has said this is not a small, do it in a weekend, project - you will see programmes in temporary homes while it happens - but sets can move Wink
