It wouldn't be Studio E without one of these....

Here's a look at the new studio graphics for Newsday in London.

Really wish we got Studio E on BBC World News all the time. The newsroom backdrop works so much better than the London skyline, especially on a global news channel.

Surprised they didn't use D for World rather than that slightly awkward simulcast, although I guess than would have required extra people.

There's not really much you can do with studio e regards colouring the lighting it's permanently red, I guess that is the downside of having a live newsroom backdrop but for a long time it had a live news backdrop but viewers around the world didn't like this.

BBC World News is simulcasting BBC News Channel.

Is this a new thing? I don't recall this last week.

Yes a new thing for this week only whilst BBC World News do Live pilots (See twitter link under video)

Thanks. I over looked the link thinking it was a signature. Rolling Eyes

Also did anyone think the music sounded different on World?

Well we do have different music to you: our titles are obviously shorter with the balcony view and the side studio shot with the music slowly fading out, while world just brings up the logo and a shot fade out.

And our headline beds are slightly different in the U.K. We have a slight extra background (like sort of the titles underneath the bed music)

Edit: if you listen to the world music then once the NC comes up you can hear the difference slightly

The lighting in Studio E isn't permanently red, it has the same lighting set up as the other studios.

I would like to point out that I still disagree with that assertion. The "yellow" pillar looks red in the reflections in the image.

There are red acrylic panels used to diffuse the newsroom backdrop that won't change colour even if the lighting does (and I'd expect it too)...

I seem to recall a photo from the construction of studio e where the it was coloured blue.

Its all red at Studio E, its advantage is it has the backdrop, but you cant do the fabulous lighting schemes possible in Studios B and C but of course lacks a live backdrop.

But they have those red acrylic panels in Studio B, C and D and Pacific Quay and Cardiff, also the White lightboxes are also covered with the red acrylic. If it is only possible of doing red then that strikes me as fairly odd, there isn't much if any difference in price between red only LEDs and multi coloured LEDs.

Noggin is talking about the red panels which are in the background of the main shot, and are actually in the newsroom itself. They're not lit in any way.

There's also a few red gelled lamps in the studio, which obviously also can't change colour.

White LED strip is quite a bit cheaper than RGB.
