BBC South East Today

Sorry to bump an old topic out of the blue but I was wasting an afternoon on youtube and ended up looking at some South East Today clips, can someone from the region tell me a) does it still look like this b) do they still randomly use 4 differing beds during the headlines? All the clips I've seen so far do and it sounds rubbish, have I just happened to watch clips when they get it wrong?

Wow. There are a ridiculous amount of 'still to come's and 'the headlines again' in that programme. I'm sure if you added them all up they could get another report in the programme. Shoddy filling. That Polly is so bland too.

Midlands Today often have two plus a recap at the end which I also think is too much. North West Tonight all the way. Can also be accused of bland female presenters such as the weather girl.

If I've got this right they're meant to start with the lowest pitch and get higher per headline, but that's just random (5 beds) - Midlands Today just use one and stick with it, far easier!

Midlands Today get the balance right, chris - the reason you have two are to keep people watching, and uses 45 seconds of airtime overall - not too bad.

The recap at the end is the lead national story and the lead regional one, replacing the old "And now back to George Alagiyah for a round up of the headlines".

You'll also find MT are one of the few regions that thank the N6 presenter!

Don't know if you've happened across our clip, Bail, but it's laden with fail too, so it looks as though they have form.

Look North Yorkshire do it too, but can't think of any others that do.

Do they? I don't think I've ever seen that and I spend quite a bit of time in the region. I just don't enjoy the programme compared to NWT. I think it's quite bland. But this is a topic for another thread.

BBC London after every report do a still to come/coming up with the same short sting. It gets very tiresome very quickly.

Oh I thought you were referring to when they used to have the six o'clock presenters on the big screen, similar to this:

Hallelujah! I am biased too, but everything seems right about NWT. Every other show has really bland presenters and no chemistry, which on NWT isn't overly familiar but really connects the viewer and presenters. BBC Look East is just the worst - different presenters every day in different slots and they're all so boring! Plus the studio shall be hosting Breakfast as well, which makes it more cool! South East Today studio is just awful in every way!

Have to agree, NWT is far superior to all other regions, and surprisingly still so even without Gordon Burns.
