Julian Worricker and Samantha Simmonds on the News Channel. That’s a sign that the summer season is upon us, I guess. It’s rare for either of them to be on the Channel these days.
A sad reflection of the News Channel in 2019.
Two very experienced rolling news presenters presenting is meant to be a 'sad reflection of the News Channel'. Come off it. Samantha and Julian have covered a ton of breaking news stories over the years - I think both are just about qualified to present a news channel shift to a few thousand.

More like a sad reflection on the state of TV Forum in 2019. Julian Worricker has been a journalist on BBC TV and radio since 1985, making his national debut on Radio 5's Five Aside evening magazing programme in 1991, and is sometimes heard internationally on BBC World Service as well. The guy is one of the best presenters the news channel have in their back pocket as cover. He's got a tonne of personality too. I'd love him to get a regular shift on the channel, but it seems he's happy covering the News Channel & the World Service as required, as well as presenting Any Answers on Radio 4.

Weren't they saying that it is sad that Julian is only seen occasionally when significantly worse presenters and less experienced presenters such as Lukwesa Burak and Victoria Derbyshire are seen much more often?

TV companies clearly disagree about Lukwesa - she's clearly doing something right if eNCA, Sky News, Al Jazeera and BBC have all used her at some stage.
I actually prefer Lukwesa's presenting these days to towards the end of her periods at Sky News - her presenting these days feels slightly warmer and the better for it.
BBC do have quite a few presenters that I feel are due a bigger role - the likes of Karin Giannone and Annita McVeigh for example are superb. Echo what some said a few pages back about Annita - she's very much the anchor you want on air when there's breaking news. Calm, collected, reliable.
World will practically close down for the next two weeks, as Philippa Thomas and Ben Bland (in particular) are away. As is Yalda. So, and not before time, they’ve called me in for some shifts. Considering that I taught them everything......
On the subject of Annita and Karin: couldn’t agree more. Although I see more of Karin than Annita, given my location, Karin is one of those under the radar golden presenters that deserves a big chance. She’s an excellent anchor, on-location host, trainer, interviewer and totally unflappable under pressure.
I think a few of you have misunderstood what I posted above. I think both Julian and Samantha are top notch, experienced and reliable. I just meant it’s sad that we see very little of them in 2019 compared to others.
