Here are the new titles for the BBC News at Five - gone are the two men walking up the spiral staircase, one on their mobile and the other drinking a cup of coffee and instead we have a much nicer view of the newsroom after the branded '5' title sequence.

Looked like a live trundle-cam shot at 5, rather than the previous pre-recorded ones.

I don't think it is live, if you look to the windows past the weather position it appears to be daylight outside. It should be dark there now. It's the same with the newsroom backdrop behind Huw, when they use the plasma over his left shoulder, you can see the same windows as per in the title sequence and it is still daylight outside through them.

Incidentally, is the backdrop of the newsroom a flipped image? Because you can see the galleries on the right behind Huw (from our POV) and studio E on the left (again from our POV), so unless there is a camera on the opposite balcony to the trundlecam, the image must be flipped.

Don't quote me in this, but i think they placed a camera on the other side. As they wouldn't want the presenter's backdrop to be a 'empty studio' as it appears on that backrground.

Also a new view of the newsroom at the TOTH, with the camera looking up to higher floors, then panning down to the newsroom.

Sorry for the awful quality. Roll on HD...

How very ITN circa 1992.

I'm assuming there is also a new title sequence for the 9 as well.

The new BBC News Channel Update is much nicer, I'm glad they've bought back Business Updates as well. I'm loving the music in that Promo it sounds like a rejiged Concert Mix with beeps towards the end. The 5 on the titles and that Screen Graphic look really good as does the new newsroom pan. While the NC has gone forwards, World News has changed it's breakfiller to look like something that the BBC Graphics team would have used as an early test 10 years ago and Sky News has gone mental presentation wise.

Seeing a '9' in the titles to BBC News is very odd after all these years!

I always felt the 5 should be more distinctive with a numeral in the title. 6/7 years after it launched, we finally have it. Strange that the BBC One bulletins don't have the new graphic on the screens though.

What hours was there business for? Hasn't been any since 7 from what I can see on iPlayer restart. Was there a short sting?

How is the current guest, with a green tie and a poppy that contains a green leaf and stalk, not disappearing into the virtual set in Studio A?

And here is the new 9pm sequence with the refreshed titles. The new titles are the same style as on the BBC News at Five in that a '9' now appears over the globe. So that is the one, five, six, nine and ten o'clock news hours that all have titles specific to their broadcast hour.

It isn't a live image its prerecorded and its taken from the other side of the pit, it's not flipped and its not from trundlecam.

I have just rewound it on Sky and there is some red bleeding through on both the tie and the poppy. Whenever he moves, the tie tends to change slightly to red, but when he stays still, the tie stays completely green. Now if only he wore a lime green tie, then that would be interesting to see on screen Wink
