At the start of the Newshour on AJE, instead of flashing "NEWSHOUR" on the video wall in Doha, they've replaced it with "#FREEAJSTAFF." It's pretty cool to see that on the gigantic video wall in that gigantic newsroom, though it's also a sad reminder that the terrible and illegitimate regime in Egypt is still keeping a bunch of innocent journalists in prison indefinitely.

I'm sure I have actually seen that on the video wall before at the start of the newshour, not sure whether it is used for the intro of every newshour, but I think it was a Sunday also when the hashtag replaced the newshour title


From what i've seen recently, the newswall will display the al jazeera logo, when the voicover is played, the screen wipes to #FREEAJSTAFF i believe. Not sure if its on every TOTH as i don't sit and watch each and every hour. Rolling Eyes

It looks as if AlJazeera London's move from Knightsbridge to the 16th floor of The Shard could be imminent, according to this news directors Tweet:

Last day at their old office is on Friday apparently, though I believe that the new one won't be on air (at least for bullletins) for a while

Yes, somebody on Twitter did say that there will be a period of time where programmes will come solely from Doha whilst London staff are trained and rehearsals take place. Might it be that we see the new studio launch in November? AJE's 8th anniversary is November 15th.

It sounds like that supposed rebrand Al Jazeera English and Balkans were getting a couple years back. Then again, they will probably wait until The Shard goes live for AJE to release more details on AJUK

Yes, they couldn't have started on AJE UK until they moved - and that was meant to happen a lot earlier!

Going by the investment ploughed into the new London offices and it's facilities it's presumably on the cards still. To build all that for a couple of token short bulletins a day would seem odd
