Central (West)

Midlands Today
well, the central west/pebble mill thread has dropped off the forum yet again - so here goes.

central now have a short-code text message number - im rather impressed with the fact you have to put the word "central" at the start of the message.

*

they've brought out a new trailer which, whilst arati is certainly not one of my favourite presenters - it gave us a nice look at the virtual studio

i wonder if they've made a series - as arati was mainly talking about GMTV bulletins. perhaps yvonne/michelle with a weekend version and llew/jo with a lunchtime?

Yes - I was rather pleased at that text number - and also rather pleased at the outcome of the text poll but thats another matter

Saw the trailer after the 6 - quite impressed with the way they made it - nice look behind the scenes

When you send a text messange, you're not calling someone, are you?

It should read "... where you are texting from".

And not "calls cost 25p" either.

well another exciting newshour tonight - bbc midlands thought theyd jump in on the "war in iraq bandwagon" - so they sent james mcdonald to brierley hill army and navy store Laughing

*

central have another trailer - this time featuring eric mcinnes - very nice!!
*

whilst jo questions why midlands women have the largest collections of knickers and bras in the country
*

which prompts bob to let us know the type of underwear he prefers
*

a bit of creative keying going on - i like it!!
*

andfinally a new local programme which is basically a hybrid of central weekend and the time the place. presented by john stapleton, live on central at 11.30.

very nice titles and a very well produced programme. im not sure how long the theme of crime will hold peoples attention though - surely a more generic name like ... "central weekend" (along with a move to friday nights) would have given it more of a chance...

still - well made anyway.

and here is the video of the fault. i have edited out the adverts (basically the ads came after the break bumper) - and we crashed back to a still ITV caption then a LNN clock during a shampoo advert.

That's strange, erm that probably means that the regions clean feed, and the LNN testcard with announcer saying when the trailer would start.

i dont think london adverts are sent up the line from london - as its illegal (well, pointless/probably against some rule) to show adverts that arent paid for.

i always imagined testcards are still on the LNN feed where the ITV stations play out adverts. the way i understood the october 2001 changes were that instead of the stations only taking LNN for the programmes - they take LNN straight after the adverts, and take the promos and ident from london.

the only time recently we have seen london region adverts on central was during the power problems a few weeks ago in birmingham. whilst central west analogue took a feed from central east (showing central news east and east midlands adverts) - central west digital took a digital feed from london (showing london tonight and london adverts - with those awful break flashes)

Yes that Line KRS thing normally appears if your region stays with the LNN feed far too long in commercial breaks.

I'm not sure what that VT Clock is though, its not a clock for a promo, as it doesn't seem to say anything on it.

So basically a LNN feed consists of

A testcard with announcement(when regions are showing ads) VT clock for an ITV1 trailer(regions can opt out or show networked ITV1 trailer)
ITV1 Ident with announcer
ITV1 Programme played out from LNN(London programmes possibly shown on network??)
ITV Programme with network ECP

I am right?
