What I'm trying to say is, Mike Ramsden looks like Kermit the frog.

Anglia (West)

Look East (West sub-opt)
Not sure whether this is the correct place to discuss this but I'm sure someone with a big enough ego on a power trip will tell me otherwise if it's not.
Has anyone listened to the new BBC London Radio audio packages on Music 4's website? Have to say I quite like it and think they have done a pretty great job of it. The beds sound very fresh. Would be great if this was rolled out to all BBC Locals.

It's essentially a different treatment of the same theme they've had for a decade (the 2000, 2001 and 2008 packages are on Music4's site too). It's very similar in style to the jingle package the LBC have had for a couple of years (in fact the last time BBC London updated their on air branding LBC launched theirs the same day)

London

London
Usual comedy of errors on todays BBC London News - no sound so straight cut to the first package. The camera seems blurry too, though not as much as the teatime bulletin.

Personally, I can't get into it. It's awful. Done correctly, Strings and modern instruments can sound great together - listen to the BBC Manchester package produced by IQBeats to hear how to do it.
Sorry, but I agree with the Candyman who said on air that they sounded 'skittish'. Music4 have produced some storming stuff in the past, but this stuff is way off beam.

The previous incarnation of the jingles was great, it harked back to the old GLR jingles in some ways. The new ones just lack something and do smack a bit of trying to copy the opposition

Skittish is indeed a good word for it. I've been listening to these play out for a few weeks now on my way to work and every time it sounds like a Chris Evans Thursday.. wherein he plays the call/text/email jingles all at once. The sky news synthy bits and orchestra are totally at odds with each other, they don't even seem in sync on the main signature tune. I hadn't had the chance to hear them in full until you mentioned they were on the Music4 site. The main
TOTH has elements that sound superb but they're buried under fake pips boops and plops. I can't say it's an improvement on its predecessor. Sounds like a imaging package with ADHD!
Nill Points.
