Tonight there were picture problems on all the reports which Riz apologised for, they all were suffering from a jarred motion effect. They also seemed to have trouble during the umpteen coming up sequences they have in the main programme as well.

Sounds like the wrong frame rate or field-dominance settings on their edit system. They seem to be having issues with aspect ratios too.

I've just seen tonights bulletin, and the interlacing is clearly borked. I'd go along with Inspector Sands and start by looking at the field order on those packages first.
As others have said, sod's law means these sorts of things only happen just before or during tx so you don't have time to diagnose them. And even if you do, then sod's law also means the repairs well be intrusive on other equipment in the studio so a fix isn't possible until you are off air.

Poor Alice...the autocue has been broken both bulletins so far this morning!

The autocue issues could well have been caused by major IT network failures causing problems at TV Centre and the Egton Wing (where BBC London are based) of BH, among others.
This could have stopped autocues getting script updates, phones working,
ENPS (the newsroom computer system) working etc...

According to Wendy Hurrell's 'fan' Facebook profile, she and Alice had to get copy from other areas of the BBC today, including neighbouring regions who have access to London's news stories down the phone due to the network failure at BH.
