4 News

OK - it's been a while since I posted any mocks. I've had a few ideas, but I haven't been all that happy with how they've turned out. Might have to wait for another mocks amnesty to roll them out. Anyway, I have been working over the past few days on a new design for Channel 4 News. It keeps the same basic colour scheme, but makes the graphics a bit more interesting than what they currently are.

Titles
Keeps with the recent theme of showing images from the headlines in the title sequence. However now they're displayed within stripes and on big glassy 'screens'.

These stripes converge to form a world map. At any one point the map looks very distorted (though the UK stands out), so you have to imagine the stripes constantly flying across so that the map would become apparent over time.

Thoughts, comments, constructive feedback?

Those are brilliant, only thing I don't like is the angle of the 4 logo. Maybe try something like the main 3D logo but at a different angle?

Great effort Q, it's quite modern and very "swish" with some hints of the current look.

They're excellent.

The only criticism I have is the 4 logo looks a bit tacky at that angle. I also think the shades of green and red used on the market board are too bright.

Very well thought out, and modern, but yes agree with everyone else the '4' needs rethinking.

In addition to making the '4' upright, it would also make more sense to have it in 3D - every element of Channel 4's current branding has the '4' that way - break bumpers, trail endboards, menus; it's always set in 3D.

That's the only improvement I can suggest - everything else is good, and I like the concept for the titles too, very well done.

As much as I like the mock, the '4' angle looks odd,

Pretty but the 4 as soon as I looked at it I thought it looked very similar to the motorway road sign. It looks like it's falling apart as well. 3D would probably be nicer as it looks odd at the moment.
