Quite embarassing figures for ITV really.

But then most people will only watch a game on ITV if they can't receive it any other way- the pundits and commentators they pick are just so bad. Motson is bad, but I can't see anyone wanting to listen to over 120 minutes of David Pleat.

Don't know if this has been answered in the previous 54 pages but are Sky not allowed to show moving images of the World Cup?

Both Sky Sports News and Sky News have only shown still images (well atleast when i have been watching)

Sky News can show footage (in the same BBC News and ITV News can show sports footage from Sky Sport) up to a certain amount of time (a few minutes). Sky Sports News can't do this.

Sky News can show footage (in the same way that BBC News and ITV News can show sports footage from Sky Sport) up to a certain amount of time (a few minutes). Sky Sports News can't do this.

Very strange for the BBC to promo the fact that BBC Sport will 'be there' for the 2010 and 2014 World Cups! I was wondering the likelyhood of the BBC losing the rights after 2014, considering that free-to-view television will include all Freeview channels (digitilisation complete in 2012). Nothing to stop Sky Sports launching a couple of free-to-view channels and bidding? Food for thought...or does the channel have to have PSB obligations?



I would say the BBC are probably in a strong position for 2018 - I think ITV may pull out of their current arrangement unless England host the tournament (if Wembley is finished by then! Laughing ).

Your right though - nothing to stop Sky bidding. Even with their current set up they could just simulcast games on Sky Three - I think actually only games involving the home nations, the semi-finals and the finals have to be shown live on FTA.
