Would Dermot want the Six? After all, it's pretty similar to what he was doing at ITN before he left for Breakfast. However, I do agree that this bulletin doesn't really suit George.

I think it would be naive to suggest that Dermot left his number 2 anchor job at ITN to go to the Beeb purely to do Breakfast. Breakfast was just a way into the BBC for him - I expect he was always eyeing up a promotion of some sort.
I think Dermot's been doing well on the 6 - I prefer him to George, and he's pretty much on a par with Bill. He's certainly far better doing a "proper" bulletin than he is on Breakfast. And the slight changes in presentation do seem to indicate that change could be in the air.
Meanwhile, Bill and Natasha have been doing a great job over at Breakfast, they seem to have on-screen chemistry to rival Bill and Sian. It finally seems that BBC News are realising where the strengths of their many talented presenters really lie.

Dermot's strength being doing something like cleaning.
The BBC don't have a clue where theyre real strenghts lie - else they would surely be using Peter Sissons and some of the News 24 greats on BBC One bulletins. At the moment the BBC One News team is a mix of what the BBC thinks will attract various strata of the audience - the young, women and ethnic minorities (generally)..

When Louise Minchin goes on maternaty leave, does anyone know who will be replacing her? Is Anna Jones presenting 9-1 a permanant thing?

I think you could be right - there seems to be changes happening. I think we may see Dermot promoted to the Six - Bill to become the main male presenter with Natasha for a while before she moves on to the One perhaps?
And where exactly would they put George?

On the Ten with Huw, and Fiona would become the face of current affairs. Obvious
Of course!
My sincerest apologies.

Wales Today
If I were in charge of BBC One news, and didn't care if it left News 24 in the lurch, I'd have the following schedule...
Breakfast: Bill & Sian (dep'd by Darren Jordan & Michelle Hussein)
The One: Jane Hill (dep'd by Chris Eakin)
The Six: Jon Sopel & Louise Minchin (dep'd by Bill & Sian)
The Ten: Huw (dep'd by George)
These are the best in my opinion! This could leave for News 24...
9-1 Phil & Anna
1-4 Matthew & Maxine
4-7 Simon & Joanna
7-11 Peter & Carrie
