I noted some amazing responseS to Mustard being unable to show the Norwich match live - lots of angry people, including one who wanted the Managing Director to resign, and another who seemed to think Mustard TV didn't have the rights to show it live and were lying the whole time!

Which is just ridiculous really as no one would be offering coverage at all if it wasn't for Mustard and they will have almost certainly sort it out next time. It just goes to show viewers don't cut local broadcasters any slack despite working on minute budgets compared to most national ones.

It would be ashame if this experience made Mustard more cautious about this kind of coverage.

What's with the "schtudio" in the opening link, fawning and distorted sound?
A free ad for a cleaning product too - Compliance!?

Yes, indeed. Mustard/Archant should be congratulated for putting this together. I must admit that I'd assumed that they were taking a multi-lateral of coverage intended for overseas broadcast. No, this wasn't the case: White Label, who must be the logical descendents of Anglia's OB operation were covering the event for both Mustard and Norwich City themselves.

The link would have been uni-lateral.

The cost of permanent microwave may well be high, but for such a short link equipment can be hired. The Eastern Daily Press building is definitely LoS to Carrow Road, there's a tower block that could be in the way, but at least some part of the stadium roof would be visible. If the decision were made to use IP over broadband, there's even a wireless provider with a base station on the Cathedral spire.

Satellite is not such a daft idea, after-all the equipment is readily hirable and satellite capacity is a known commodity. If they were using satellite, I wonder where the down-linh was to? THis could have been direct to Archant, to Comux in Birmingham, or the Arqiva somewhere and hence Comux?

No room for a live performance at That's Manchester, so the musician performs on the sofa.

Anglia's OB facilities were sold to Global Broadcast, who were subsequently taken over by Visions. Nothing was left in Norwich.

Here's how that's Manchester's Headline News has developed - the opening titles from tonight. It's getting a slowly better, but i still find it distracting that the brick wall that is in focus, not the presenter:

That's actually a pretty nice opening sequence, but it does get ruined as soon as the mix through to the set.

Top story feels like a promo rather than news too.
