In American children's television news, Hub Network (currently a joint venture between Hasbro and Discovery Communications, with each company owning 50%) is set to become Discovery Family from 13 October, and Discovery's share will increase to 60%. While the channel will remain as the U.S. home of shows from Hasbro's subsidiary Hasbro Studios (known for MLP: FIM , Transformers: Prime , etc.), it will increase non-fiction and reality programmes in its prime time offerings.

What I want to ask is, will the upcoming rebrand affect existing channels like Discovery Familia for U.S. Spanish audiences, Discovery Kids-branded channels in Latin America and Asia, and K2 and Frisbee channels owned by Discovery Italy?

Probably not, they'll ever rebrand the channels or just shut them down.

It didn't stop them to shut down Discovery Kids and Discovery Wings in the UK and for it to be replaced by Discovery Turbo.

Here's a 1975 report about one of the greatest branding debacles in television history:

(Via stevieboy247 at tvnewstalk.net)

I'll let Wikipedia tell the rest of the story:

"The [Nebraska Educational Television] commission sued NBC for trademark infringement, a suit which generated national attention. In an out-of-court settlement, NBC donated a color mobile unit and other equipment totaling over $800,000. NBC paid an additional $55,000 to reimburse the commission for the costs of eliminating the old logo from all advertising."

NBC eventually reintroduced the peacock as its logo, and after a period of using the peacock superimposed on the "N", it dropped the "N" entirely in the mid-1980s.

Here's a missile attack warning -- in Arabic and English -- as seen on Channel 3 in Saudia Arabia during the 1991 Gulf War:

And here is more old continuity from English-language TV services in the Middle East:

Speaking of US, the Hub Network is going to become the Discovery Family channel...I'm not mad about this. I'm alright with this.
Makes me question when we will get this channel in the UK...

We won't. Pop has My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, which was Hub's most popular show. A lot of the other kids shows were old reruns. The stuff they'll be showing in the evenings is basically like Quest. A dumping ground for Discovery shows from a few years ago.

Then why was Discovery family advertising MLP then?
Quote:
Hasbro will retain a large stake in the service and control a chunk of programming during the day. 'My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic' is one show on the Hub that is based on a Hasbro toy
This quote was from the Wall Street Journal http://online.wsj.com/articles/discovery-to-take-control-of-the-hub-network-1410979842 so MLP will be staying on DFamily.

Well, like I questioned days ago, will Discovery Familia (the U.S. Spanish equivalent) also get a rebrand that day? I want someone in America to have a coverage on it.

EDIT: By "someone in America", it means any TV presentation enthusiasts in the United States who have TV recording device and also have access to that channel.

And how much are you willing to pay for that?

In Australia, Discovery Kids will launch on 3 November, replacing Discovery Home & Health.

Now heading to USA, this was the moment Hub Network became Discovery Family on 13 October. It was like all of sudden, but unsurprisingly, Discovery Kids' switch to what was known as The Hub back then was similar to what happened above.

I think they should have put the countdown to Discovery Family instead at 6 am U.S. Eastern, and right before 5 pm, play something like below, featuring the staying and upcoming shows on the channel, and going straight into Africa after countdown hits zero.

Speaking of the sudden brand switchover, I remember the day BBC World became BBC World News: they played the hourly countdown from BBC World before airing the 5 am bulletin with the new look BBC World News .

From Portugal, the moment RTPN became RTP Informação, showing the new look Bom dia Portugal .

And in the UK, from the day FX became Fox.

Was that a response to me, or did you forget to quote someone? Because I didn't say it wouldn't still air MLP. I said the channel won't be coming to the UK, in response to JetixFann's "Makes me question when we will get this channel in the UK...".

Discovery Kids in Asia launched in 2012 using logo in Latin America. Before the channel launch, DK was only available in Latin America as DK in USA replaced by Hub.

Before H&H has phased out in Australia, H&H was also phased out in Asia. Eve replaced them.
