Despite it being a Scottish (12) symbol, I believe you are right.

Is this really rare
Looks like a re-edit of South Downs English cuts; 1997 regulars. I think the closest thing to a rare symbol from the original shoots were the 'Fast' cuts, like English 4 - even then, not rare at all, just later withdrawn. So I'd take this video with a pinch of salt...

Not exact ones for most of them -- the silver TTTV ident was Monday 5th October 1992, the flowing rivers one was the day that the schools went back in England after the six-weeks holiday (a Thursday I believe -- possibly the 8th of September -- it wasn't the first), and the multi-coloured 1992 variant of the 1991 ident was definitely introduced on Monday 6th January 1992 (the Christmas/New Year graphics being used from around the 21st of December up to that point, which used the previous ident). 1979 was of course the day the strike ended; the 1989 one being the first Friday of September at somewhere between 17:00 and 18:00, the 1991 ident being introduced in March IIRC (although elements of the presentation package were slowly introduced over a 4 or 5 week period after then with much of the blue ITV-style TTTV stuff being used alongside the new version of the ident).
IVC was abandoned during peak time around February of 1990, but was re-introduced when the Christmas graphics package came in during December of that year. During this period TTTV adopted an odd practice of tailing a promo with a menu slide of programmes (with voiceover), then cutting to a still of the ITV Tyne Tees logo which then cross-faded into the programme without that programme being introduced by the announcer.
We've spoken before about TTTV's practice of never using idents before programmes; idents were used from January to September of 1993 (while TTTV still controlled presentation), and were used when there was only around 10 seconds of pres time before the next programme (Bill Steel often ignored this and just went with an extra piece of IVC, but the other announcers did not). This was abandoned in the September, with TTTV returning to only ever using IVC or a static slide before 99% of programmes (although this was a bit more slack post-1993) until 1996 when the pres department closed completely, and YTV took over showing idents before each programme like just about every other region.

Sorry that it's not quite on the current topic, but I hope I can now put to bed the myth that BBC World re-branded with the new BBC News design and David Lowe's music in 1999. After constructing a complicated search strategy, I managed to get my list of results down to just 9 websites, one of which states that BBC World's rebrand happened on
Monday 3 April 2000

Hope that clears that one up once and for all!
Thanks for sorting that out! Does anyone remember what was used during simulcasts in the interim period when News 24 used the new beige look and BBC World stayed with the old flags? I assume the overnight service was shown on both channels (and BBC One) back then as well.
In possibly the weirdest branding/presentation thing the BBC ever did, BBC News 24 reverted back to the flags look wholesale every night, for at least the first few weeks of this period. It looked very weird if (like me) you only had BBC News 24 overnight on BBC One during this period, as the shift back to the beige look occurred at 5:30am so the last half hour of the overnight service on BBC One used the corporate look! I can't remember if this lasted all the way up to World's rebrand though - at some point they started using the BBC One weekend news titles for common bulletins overnight.
It seems some people still saying September 1998 not sure what to do>?
If you mean when did Central become Carlton in name, than Monday 6th September 1999. The package before that was also the same as Carlton's at the time but with the Carlton name replaced by Central. That I think was 1998.
It could have been September 1998 actually. I remember Central presentation around a Bank Holiday, still in full swing with the Cake, then shortly after it all disappearing, and being surprised that the original look was still used so much one day then gone the next. August Bank Holiday in 1998 was August 31st - so September 1st is entirely possible.
It still surprises me when things change like that, for example I remember last year Living were extensive trailing Bedlam as a new series "coming soon to Living" with a trail style consistent with the present brand, even though by the time Bedlam began Living had become Sky Living.

Thanks for that,
Central
So I take it we are going for 1st September 1998 for when the cake went?

From this video I have discovered, I think we can rule out anything after 10th May 1998
Obviously it doesn't explain when exactly these idents were introduced, but if it is correct that the cake was discontinued in May, it would definatly have been at the most a week and a half before this recording was made.
