Doctor Who: Season 6 Spoiler Thread

Given the fact that the trailer at http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/newyear will cause so much trouble in the other thread, it makes perfect sense to make a new one and keep all Tennant mourning in the other.

So, we have the angels, a grey dalek being hit with a mallet, someone who looks like river song, a new round control room and a general habit of running round in an untucked shirt. It looks rather fab.

Don't really understand why they didn't show the trailer on BBC1.

I'm guessing they just felt it might have ruined the mood of the ending to have gone straight into the new series trailer. They aired it after Confidential on BBC Three though, and I imagine it'll be on BBC One within a very short space of time!

It was on just before Mastermind - just after the first EastEnders 25 trailer actually

And good decision to delay it, and run the credits without announcement - would have taken away from Tennant's final moments.

It certainly does look good!

If that was the TARDIS control room, then I think the impression given (in such a fleeting glimpse) was of a 'work in progress'.

Doesn't the TARDIS have the ability to repair itself to a certain extent, as shown after it collided with the Titanic; although in these caps the Doctor seems to be doing some repair work himself....

In my opinion that's under the console, not the actual room itself... but from what we're lead to believe there'll be several rooms again linked with a stairway [like the first one visable in those shots above]

From what I understand it's going to be a multi-leveled console room, with a rumoured Lab upstairs. However there was no mention of the underneath.

Apparently it's been more of less (unofficially) confirmed that the Silurians are going to be in Series 5, however they do have human eyes, which has pissed off a few on GB

I wonder why the new producer decided to change the appearance of the Tardis? It took me long enough to get used to the last one! I don't think it has ever been explained in the series why the control room looked so different when Doctor Who came back. For what reason would The Doctor have had to change the control room's appearance?

Well I think the production reason is that the TARDIS set was not built with HD in mind, and so in HD closeups aren't possible. Though from what we have seen of the set in the specials, I thought it looked really good. But from what little we've seen, they've really kicked it up a notch in the new series.

The design of the TARDIS has changed a few times over the years of the classic series, the new series were not the first people to change it.

Apparently it was because The Moff wanted the Tardis exterior to look more like the Peter Cushing one, however in the end it didn't end up like that apparently, dimensions wise at least

The console room has changed quite a few times over the years, here's the comparison pics I posted on GB last year (barring the 7th image), bare in mind there were more inconsistencies during the first 3-4 Doctors console rooms, plus several variations of Pertwee's are missing, but then again the console room varied from story to story in his run:
