A look behind the scenes of the setup of Studio One at Havelock House on tonight's UTV Live. I always thought the Seven Thirty Show set was to the right of the UTV Live set but from this shot it seems it is actually facing it:

During the same report we also got a glimpse of what seems to be UTV's 50th anniversary logo:

Two interesting things on UTV Live this evening:
1. The "Doctor, Doctor! Can I Have a Prescription?" PIF from the 1980s on a report about, funny enough, prescriptions...
2. Pamela Ballantine voiced a report for the Pride of Britain awards (which no doubt will be trailed as much as the People's Millions i.e. every sodding day on every sodding bulletin), which featured this caption with ITV and UTV references together:

The new North American reporter on UTV appeared again tonight - he sounds a bit Northern Irish in some of his pronounciations, and I think he sounds more Canadian than American - I swear I heard an "oot" instead of "out".
Ruth Gorman has been doing plenty of reports for sports lately - I wonder if she's got the job Logie didn't take or if she's only doing the usual freelance stint?
And is Sarah Dobson pregnant? She looked it on UTV Live Tonight last night.

Quite a nice graphic used yesterday and today for the viewers' texts and e-mails:

Nice to see Rose Neill presenting on UTV Live Tonight, with a little mention from Paul at the end about how it was just like old times!

For those who've not spotted it, a nice little site with lots of old archive pictures and clips of BBC NI News from the 1950s to the 2000s.

Been giving the news back home a wide berth for a while, but watched UTV Live tonight out of sheer boredom.
Is it just me or is Alison Fleming battling with Myleene Klass for the record of appearing on TV in the shortest time before giving birth? And newsroom staff must be short on the ground if they sent Jamie Delargy out to cover the story of swine flu in a Newry primary school. I'm surprised they didn't have a report on the "Will Wee Ian go to jail?" story, yet they still find space for more Sharon O'Neill garbage.
And they've borrowed U105's copy of Snow Patrol's "Eyes Open" for another piece of unnecessary filler - a more-or-less trail for UPlayer with "You're All I Have" in the background. Bet Gary Lightbody appreciates the PRS cheques.

Found this picture while browsing Flickr, interesting behind the scenes look of the studio showing what the presenter would see.

Slightly off-topic, but it seems Maxine Mawhinney is returning to her roots this week - according to RT, she's presenting Good Morning Ulster on BBC Radio Ulster from Monday 12th - Thursday 15th July alongside Conor Bradford/Will Leitch.
I also notice UTV Live Tonight is taking the customary UTV bank holiday break on Monday and Tuesday, although on Monday its replaced by 'The Twelfth' programme - right up against the BBC programme.
Interestingly, on Monday the 6pm UTV Live is the full-length half-hour, but on Tuesday there's a 'Twelfth' highlights programme (presumably a revised rpt) at 6pm, followed by a bulletin at 6.20pm.
