The new sets have been introduced to reduce the large amount of setting and striking of scenery that previously took place in the large studio, and to allow Breakfast to move to the Nationals studio and still have a different look.

I guess the other benefit is that it allows programmes like HardTalk and Newswatch which come from wherever is available the choice of N6 or TC7 and they can have the same look.

I don't normally watch Newsround, but on Friday (I think) they had a video of their new set. It's not that informative, but if anyone's interested I can upload it for them to view.

Thanks, that would be good if you could upload it. Very Happy

Where do shows like The Daily Politics and the BBC Four news come from then? Will they get a new look too?

Westminster and N9 respectively. Most likely no.

Flippin heck, that's one hell of a theme!

I love the new titles and the set looks gorgeous. Perhaps too expansive with just Jeremy and David but it should look good for Newsnight Review.

I think Jeremy looked quite pleased - he had a knowing smile at the start.

Well they avoided Helvetica and Gill Sans, and chose Trebuchet MS. Very simple and stylish update, to the titles, and straps.

WM Encoder messed the aspect ratio up - but it's still watchable.

Is it me, or are the new Newsnight graphics TOG safe? (I havn't the technical ability or the willpower to check this... it just looks like it)

If so: why would they do that? I hope I don't wildly speculate that more costcutting may be on the horizon.

I think its more to do with the fact that a TOG was installed for both the new studios. Or perhaps they will repeat Newsnight on News 24 in the future, I'd like that...
